Gamut Theatre Group Announces Shakespeare Birthday Celebration
By: Kelsey Denette
On April 22, 2012, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Gamut Theatre will celebrate 448 years since Shakespeare's birth, when it holds its ninth annual Shakespeare's Birthday Celebration!
Live Elizabethan music and Shakespearean entertainment will abound, hosted by the Glorious Queen Elizabeth I herself! Shakespeare will also be on hand to mingle with the guests, and Ian Potter and David Ramón Zayas will perform a fast-paced fight scene from Hamlet using various weapons such as; broadsword, rapier and dagger, and axe and buckler. The celebration will conclude with an interview of two Shakespearean “groundlings” a.k.a. peasants on the Gamut Stage by none other than David Newhouse, editor of The Patriot News, recently the 2011 Benjamin Bradlee Editor of the Year award recipient.Held at Gamut Classic Theatre, Shakespeare's Birthday Celebration also features silent and live auctions of Gamut and Shakespeare-themed items, as well as many other fabulous items donated by area businesses. The live auction will be conducted by Erica Taylor of Classic Edge Auctions in Hershey, PA. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served amidst the delight of Shakespearean entertainment.Katharine Newhouse, Co-Chair
