Damien Chazelle's LA LA LAND to Kick Off 25th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival
The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) is proud to announce the 25 th anniversary of the Philadelphia Film Festival, taking place October 20 October 30, 2016.
Academy Award nominee DAMIEN Chazelle will kick off the Festival's opening night revelries with a red-carpet screening of La La Land on October 20. The 11-day festival will showcase over 110 feature length and short films. Closing this year's Festival will be Denis Villeneuve's stunning sci-fi thriller, Arrival.
"We are thrilled to celebrate a milestone year for the Philadelphia Film Festival," said Executive Director, J. Andrew Greenblatt. "This year's line-up fully embodies what the Philadelphia Film Festival truly is: a community filled with film lovers brought together to experience today's most thought-provoking and innovative films!"
"With over 110 works from world renowned directors and emotive shorts, our lineup includes something for everyone to enjoy," said Artistic Director, Michael Lerman.
M. Night Shyamalan will be honored at the Opening Night Gala with the inaugural Lumiere Award, honoring his contribution to the film industry and his outstanding work as one of the most notable Philadelphia filmmakers.
