Civic Theatre of Allentown will premiere the Academy Award nominated film Another Year on Friday, March 4. The film will screen in Civic's Theatre514 on March 4 and 5 and in the Civic's 19th Street Theatre from March 6 onward. Another Year was nominated for Best Screenplay for the 2011 Academy Awards.

Synopsis: A married couple, Tom (Jim Broadbent) and Gerri (Lesley Manville) who have managed to remain blissfully happy into their autumn years, seem to continually deal with friends and colleagues getting drunk and bemoaning their non-existent love lives. They are content to play counselors to these ‘sad sacks' until one targets their 20-year old son. Over the course of a year, a birth, a death and a golf game all complicate matters, though Gerri and Tom's relationship remains as steadfast as ever.

MSN Movies Critic Glenn Kenny asserts the acting as "uniformly terrific, and Manville as Mary is particularly outstanding. It's virtuoso work in every sense." Film.com and Rolling Stone agree that this "one of a kind film...makes you appreciate that there are still a few people out there for whom film is still a worthy artistic expression."
