Just last night, The Public Theater celebrated its Annual Gala, HAIR TO HAMILTON, 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, with musical direction by Rob Fisher and Nadia DiGiallonardo, the 90-minute concert featured songs from The Public's most beloved and groundbreaking musicals performed by some of the most celebrated voices in theater. Joining her are TV star Chris Diamantopoulos as Dr. Pomatter, who inspires the expert pie-maker to create an 'I Wanna Play Doctor with my Gynecologist' pie, and beloved Broadway leading man and Tony Award nominee Will Swenson as Earl, Jenna's ne'er-do-well husband.

Now, the 'Age of Aquarius' dawns again in this jubilant new production directed by Diane Paulus, with choreography by Karole Armitage. HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, and music by Galt MacDermot.

Today in 2011, Priscilla Queen of the Desert opened at the Palace Theatre, wehre it is still running (currently 415 performances). Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is a musical with a book by Australian film director-writer Stephan Elliott and Allan Scott, using well-known pop songs as its score. Adapted from Elliott's 1994 film The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the musical tells the story of two drag queens and a transsexual, who contract to perform a drag show at a resort in Alice Springs, a resort town in the remote Australian desert. The original Broadway cast includes Will Swenson as Tick (Mitzi), Tony Sheldon, again, reprising his role of Bernadette, and Nick Adams as Adam (Felicia).

This just in! Original cast member Will Swenson will return to the role of Javert in Cameron Mackintosh's Broadway production of LES MISERABLES for a limited time beginning this Wednesday,November 18, stepping in for Earl Carpenter as he recovers from a neck injury (cervical vertebrae impingement). Carpenter will undergo an MRI this week to determine a treatment plan and timetable for recovery.
