Get a first look at Leonard Bernstein's classic comedy operetta Candide, making its long-awaited debut at The Atlanta Opera, featuring an acclaimed cast of rising stars and veterans of the Metropolitan Opera in an all-new production.

They'll tell the story of tonight becuase today, January 16, marks the birthday of legendary In the Heights and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. In honor of the ocassion, we're looking back at where the story of the ten-dollar founding father began: The Public Theater. Just last week, Carnegie Hall presented a one-night-only concert performance of Leonard Bernstein's Candide in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The cast was led by Paul Appleby in the title role of Candide alongside Erin Morley as Cunegonde, Patricia Racette as the Old Lady, William Burden as Governor, and John Lithgow as Voltaire / Dr. Pangloss, with Ryan Silverman (Maximilian) and Bryonha Marie Parham (Paquette).

Ah, the togetherness! And the amazing dancing! HAMILTON ensemble member Jon Rua choreographed a reimagined version of the famed gym scene from WEST SIDE STORY, in which the Sharks and the Jets dance together instead of fighting.
