Today we rewind to 2014, when Rocky was getting ready to take center ring on Broadway. Rocky opened March 13 at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it ran for 180 performances.

Today we rewind to 2012, when the second Broadway revival of Annie opened at the Palace Theatre, where it ran for 487 performances. Annie features a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, with all three authors receiving 1977 Tony Awards for their work.

BroadwayWorld's own Richard Ridge, says of this episode of Broadway Rewind, 'It is jammed packed with Albee, Brooks and Pinter and I had one of the biggest pinch me moments of chatting with one of the greatest playwrights Edward Albee, himself. We head to Second Stage for the opening of Edward Albee's Peter and Jerry but we start off at the first day of rehearsal for revival of the Harold Pinter classic, The Homecoming which featured a stellar cast including Ian McShane, Raul Esparza, Eve Best and Michael McKeen. Director Daniel Sullivan told me what he loved about the play, 'When I read it now, almost 40 years after it was done, it still scares me. I had never directed Pinter, so I thought it was about time.''

Matt Owen, Jillian Gottlieb and Jim J. Bullock celebrate Christmas at Tuacahn Center for the Arts in the a?oesparkle-jollya?? production of Elf the Musical, which began performances on November 30th.

The Ogunquit Playhouse production of Annie is helmed by Broadway Director/Choreographer James A. Rocco. The cast includes Josie Todd as Annie, Emmy nominee Robert Newman as Oliver Warbucks, and Broadway veterans Angie Schworer as Lily St. Regis, Jeffry Denman as Rooster Hannigan, and Gail Bennett as Grace Farrell.

On this day in 2002, the big. beautiful Broadway hit musical, Hairspray opened at the Neil Simon Theater.

From a Tony and Pulitzer Prize award-winning creative team comes the world-premiere musical comedy DAVE, adapted from the Oscar-nominated film. DAVE tells the story ofhigh school teacher (and presidential lookalike) DAVE Kovic, who is hired by the Secret Service as a stand-in for the Commander-in-Chief. When the President falls ill under less than 'presidential' circumstances, DAVE is thrust into the Oval Office to avoid a national scandal, and must find a way to gain the trust and love of the American people...and the First Lady. After their opening night was rained out on Friday, July 20th, the diverse and youthful cast of Hairspray at The Jenny Wiley Theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre in Prestonsburg, Kentucky--population 3,255 -- celebrated their work and art by transforming a local pizzeria into a piano bar and joyfully singing through a concert of the show for an enthusiastic local crowd. The second performance on Saturday, July 21st, made it to the end of Act 1... when another severe storm broke loose.
