The episode took place at the funeral service for a beloved clown mentor which reunited Cameron with his estranged ex-clown partner, Lewis (Bobby Cannavale). Also in the episode, Phil was serious about landing a very important listing, only to get trumped by a notorious bulldozer of an agent, Verna Roth (Ellen Barkin); and Manny had a cool new friend, which made both Jay and Gloria suspicious. Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda guest starred on ABC's hit comedy 'Modern Family' as a dog trainer who helps Gloria (Sofia Vergara) last night, May 11th. Says Miranda of his character in TV Guide: 'My character is this pathetic loser who Gloria can't say no to...I'm in her house, I have no business being there, but it's fun being in the middle of Gloria and Jay because they're my favorite couple on the show.' Miranda is most famous for writing and starring as Usnavi in the Broadway musical In the Heights, which opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2008 and for which he won the Tony Award as composer and lyricist.
