A BROADWAY CELEBRATION: IN PERFORMANCE AT THE WHITE HOUSE was broadcast nationwide this week on PBS. The sixty-minute television special was emceed by Nathan Lane and includedIdina Menzel, Brian d'Arcy James, Audra McDonald, Chad Kimball, Elaine Stritch, Marvin Hamlisch, Karen Olivo, Tonya Pinkins, Assata Alston and a youth ensemble from the Joy of Motion Dance Center and Duke Ellington School of the Arts, with Danielle Arci and Constantine Rousouli.

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, A BROADWAY CELEBRATION: IN PERFORMANCE AT THE WHITE HOUSE will premiere tonight, October 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET (check local listings) on PBS stations nationwide, followed by an encore presentation at 10:00 p.m. The sixty-minute television special is emceed by Nathan Lane and includes Idina Menzel, Brian d'Arcy James, Audra McDonald, Chad Kimball, Elaine Stritch, Marvin Hamlisch, Karen Olivo, Tonya Pinkins, Assata Alston and a youth ensemble from the Joy of Motion Dance Center and Duke Ellington School of the Arts, with Danielle Arci and Constantine Rousouli.

This past July, Broadway stars joined in Washington for 'A Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House,' to promote arts education. The event featured Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald, Elaine Stritch, Brian d'Arcy James, Chad Kimball, Tonya Pinkins, Marvin Hamlisch, Karen Olivo, Assata Alston, Danielle Arci and Constantine Rousouli. The event will air on PBS October 20 at 9 p.m. as part of the PBS music series, 'In Performance at the White House.' Broadway's THE ADDAMS FAMILY, currently playing the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway, dedicated a special 8:00pm performance on Sunday, July 11, 2010 to The Actors Fund, granting proceeds to the fund in support of their programs and services.

While the world's eyes focused on the Tony Awards in New York on Sunday June 13th, theatre patrons gathered in Los Angeles to watch the ceremony live via satellite and celebrate with Annette Bening in honoring Tony winner Brian Stokes Mitchell at the 14th Annual Tony Awards Benefit presented by The Actors Fund. Nine-time Tony winner Tommy Tune served as the evening's host.

Bebe Neuwirth and Nathan Lane presented the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. The award was taken home by Catherine Zeta Jones for her role in A Little Night Music.
