For over twenty-five years, the late Bradshaw Smith (Founder & Executive Producer of "Broadway Beat" and Applause Video) was the theater world's preeminent videographer, capturing over 1,000 performances on Broadway, off-Broadway, in cabaret halls and beyond that now, because of him, live on today. Bradshaw Smith died on January 16, 2012, at age 57, following a sudden and severe stroke. To conclude the intimate memorial, Bradshaw's longtime friend and editor, Jonathan Frank, compiled the best of Bradshaw's work as a video artist. Coming to cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 15 March 2012 is a unique production of Stephen Sondheim's Company, one with a brilliant ensemble cast that includes some of the hottest names from American stage and TV circles. Staged by the world-famous New York Philharmonic, Company was recorded live from the Avery Fisher Hall at the Lincoln Center, New York in 2011 and is now screening in cinemas outside the US for the first time. Today in 1940, Pal oey opened at Broadway's Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Pal Joey is a musical with a book by John O'Hara (from his novel of the same title) and music and lyrics by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart based on a character and situations O'Hara created in a series of short stories published in The New Yorker. It includes two songs that have become standards: 'I Could Write a Book' and 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered'.

Today, Richard is back in Times Square at the Marquis Theatre for some quality time with fan favorite Jan Maxwell, currently starring as 'Phyllis' in Follies. During the talk, Jan speaks candidly about being a young struggling actress in New York, her shortcomings (cooking!), and how she almost left the city for good before she even got going...until she found 'Angels.'

As previously reported, the cast of PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT will be performing the show stopper 'It's Raining Men' at the Tony Awards ceremony on Sunday, June 12. The performance will be broadcast as part of the ceremony on CBS. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the rehearsal run with special guest performers Paul Shaffer (who wrote the tune) and Martha Wash (the song's original songstress). As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, the New York Philharmonic, EMK Productions and Screenvision present Stephen Sondheim's 'Company' in movie theatres across the nation. The production was shot in early April as part of the Philharmonic's spring gala. Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) lead an all-star cast which included Patti LuPone, Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Craig Bierko and Martha Plimpton. The New York Philharmonic is presenting Stephen Sondheim's groundbreaking Company, with an all-star cast led by Neil Patrick Harris (Robert). The concert production played its first show last night and Broadway Beat was on hand for the performance and brings you highlights below!

Stephen Colbert, who will next be seen in New York Philharmonic (April 7-9), stopped by The Jimmy Fallon Show to keep his word on a bargain he made with his fellow television host: in return for Fallon raising raise $26,000 for DonorsChoose.org, Colbert would perform the viral hit 'Friday'.
