Disney Theatrical Productions will present the eagerly anticipated North American tour of Broadway's Tony® Award-winning smash hit musical, Disney's NEWSIES. Rehearsals began on Wednesday, September 3 in New York City in preparation for the first performance on Saturday, October 11 in Schenectady, NY at Proctors. During its first year of touring in the 2014-15 season, the production will play 25 cities, over 43 weeks. The production features Dan DeLuca as 'Jack Kelly', Steve Blanchard as 'Joseph Pulitzer', Stephanie Styles as 'Katherine', Angela Grovey as 'Medda Larkin', Jacob Kemp as 'Davey', Zachary Sayle as 'Crutchie', and Vincent Crocilla and Anthony Rosenthal alternating the role of 'Les.' The cast of the Tony Award-winning musical NEWSIES took their excited final bows at the Nederlander Theatre today to uproarious applause from a packed audience. NEWSIES featured a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, NEWSIES was directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work. NEWSIES enjoyed almost two and a half years on Broadway.

The national tour company of PIPPIN challenged the Broadway cast of NEWSIES to complete the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, and the boys have taken them up on their dare. NEWSIES is now challenging Alan Cumming and the Broadway company of CABARET, the Broadway company of MATILDA, and James Iglehart and the cast of ALADDIN. Watch their submission below!

Broadway star Jeremy Jordan sang 'Was I A Trouper, Mom?' on this morning's TODAY to honor a musician struggling with an illness.

Happy Birthday Jeremy Jordan! In 2012, Jordan was nominated for a Tony Award for his role as Jack Kelly in NEWSIES, which he began with Paper Mill Playhouse in 2011. Jordan has also appeared in Broadway's Bonnie & Clyde in 2011, as well as Rock of Ages and West Side Story in 2009. He guest-starred on Law & Order: SVU in 2008 and appeared in the film Joyful Noise. He also appeared in the second season of NBC's SMASH. Most recently, he starred in the special Encores! event A Bed and a Chair- Stephen Sondheim and Wynton Marsalis's new musical event featuring Sondheim's music arranged and performed by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.

Two years ago, on September 15, 2011, Newsies, the hit Tony Award-winning 'critics' pick,' played its first performance at Paper Mill Playhouse. Ever since that very first night, Newsies fans, self-proclaimed 'fansies,' have been a cause for celebration, helping to propel the show from a limited regional theatre run to a limited Broadway engagement and then to extend into a record-breaking open-ended run. Cast members from Disney's Newsies: The Musical, performed 'Carry the Banner' down Main Street, U.S.A., with a performance from the Tony Award-winning musical.
