The Old Globe presents the West Coast premiere of Paul Gordon's delightfully romantic new musical SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, developed with Rick Boynton and presented in association with Chicago Shakespeare Theater, where it was commissioned and had its world premiere in April 2015. CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines returns to the show as director of the Globe production. SENSE AND SENSIBILITY will play now through August 14, 2016 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Based on the short story by Somerset Maugham, RAIN will play now through May 1, 2016 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. The American Theatre Wing and the Village Voice just presented the winners of the 60th Annual OBIE Awards. The Public Theater's Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda (including special citations for Andy Blankenbuehler, Thomas Kail, and Alex Lacamoire) received the OBIE Award for Best New American Theatre Work, which is accompanied by a $1,000 check. The Signature Theatre's Founding Artistic Director James Houghton received the OBIE Award for Sustained Achievement. Check out this video of the legendary Dolly Parton promoting the 9 to 5 national tour, which will be kicking off in Nashville at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. The first national tour of 9 to 5: THE MUSICAL featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton is coming to Ovens Auditorium Oct. 5-10. Charlotte is only the third stop on the tour.

Signature Theatre, the current recipient of the Tony Award® for Regional Theatre, presents the world premiere musical Sycamore Trees by Ricky Ian Gordon, composer of the acclaimed opera The Grapes of Wrath and the OBIE Award-winning Orpheus and Euridice, as well as the musicals My Life with Albertine and Dream True. Gordon's autobiographical setting of his family's struggles and triumphs over 50 years, Sycamore Trees will run through June 13, 2010 in the intimate playing space of the 276-seat MAX Theatre.

Broadway veterans John Treacy Egan (Jekyll & Hyde, The Little Mermaid) and Christian Borle (Legally Blonde, Mary Poppins) recently recorded a song for the NPR radio series 'This American Dream,' entitled 'Bet Against the American Dream.' Written by Tony Award winning composer and lyricist of Avenue Q, Robert Lopez, the tune appeared in the April 9 episode entitled 'Inside Job.' Bruce Coughlin orchestrated the song while Stephen Oremus acted as music supervisor/producer.

Angela Lansbury, the great star of stage, film, and television, was honored April 12 with the first annual Stephen Sondheim Award, given by Virginia's Signature Theatre at a black-tie Gala Benefit at the Embassy of Italy. The Sondheim Award, established by Signature last year in the name of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, was presented to the actress by Mr. Sondheim himself.

YALE REPERTORY THEATRE'S world premiere of POP!, with book and lyrics by Maggie-Kate Coleman and music by Anna K. Jacobs, directed by Mark Brokaw, is now playing through December 19 only.
