L'chaim! The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF just opened last night, December 20, at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway), wrapping up the 2015 Broadway season. Sher has directed Burstein on Broadway in the revivals of Golden Boy and South Pacific, as well as in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. It will be choreographed byHofesh Shechter, inspired by the original choreography of Jerome Robbins, and the music director will be Ted Sperling (The King and I, South Pacific). The first national tour of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY opens later this week at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre, but you need not wait that long for a sneak peek. The Broadway revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF began performances just last week, with an official opening slated for Sunday, December 20 at The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway). FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, who most recently helmed the 2015 Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of The King and I. Sher has directed Burstein on Broadway in the revivals of Golden Boy and South Pacific, as well as in Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. In a new interview with USA Today, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF choregrapher Hofesh Shechter discusses adding modern moves to the the upcoming Broadway revival of the classic musical.

The choreographer for the new Broadway production is an the Israeli-born star of the U.K.'s contemporary dance scene.

How do you show viewers that a classic old musical can be new and exciting?

It's just a week before previews begin for the much-anticipated revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, and the cast is ready to go. Des Moines Performing Arts, in partnership with THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY national tour and the Madison County Chamber of Commerce, just welcomed Elizabeth Stanley and Andrew Samonsky, who will star as Francesca Johnson and Robert Kincaid in THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY's upcoming national tour. The duo performed selections from the musical at the 46th Annual Madison County Covered Bridge Festival in Winterset, Iowa. THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, winner of the 2014 Tony Award for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, is famously set in Iowa and will launch its national tour at the Des Moines Civic Center November 28 - December 5.
