Scott Alan made his concert debut at 54 Below just last week on, January 19th with a slew of Broadway all-star talent, including 2014 Tony winners Jessie Mueller and James Monroe Iglehart, Tony nominees Joshua Henry andChad Kimball, as well as Lilla Crawford, Erin Davie, Mykal Kilgore, Natalie Weiss, Christine Dwyer, Julian Cihi, Danny Calvert, Elizabeth Stanley, Abby Mueller, Christiane Noll, Jessica Phillips, Lisa Brescia, Ashley Brown, Eden Espinosa, Marcus Paul James, Julia Murney, Marissa Rosen, Christina Cataldo and Galyana Castillo joined Alan. On Monday, August 4th, eleven emerging and established Broadway performers starred in Broadway Gets GLAAD, a concert to benefit GLAAD, the leading organization in support of a positive LGBT image in the entertainment industry. Editor's Note: I've known composer Scott Alan for almost as long as BroadwayWorld.com has been in existence. We met very shortly after the web site started, and were excited to showcase one of his first songs, 'Never Neverland (Fly Away)' at our first ever concert at Joe's Pub (sung by the wonderful Stephanie J. Block). I was intrigued by the album after seeing a preview of the cover art (by the uber-talented Logan Hicks), and even more curious to hear the album itself, his first to feature just himself instead of the usual line-up of talent from Broadway and beyond. There's always something special about hearing a composer sing his own songs, but I was still unprepared when he shared with me a preview copy for a first listen. What I didn't expect as I hit play was for it to 'ruin' my entire afternoon, as I found myself both unable to concentrate on anything else, and, as it completed, I quickly hit 'repeat' to bring me back to the first track and listen all over again. Then, I wrote him my first fan letter, and asked him if he'd share both a track (of my choosing) as well as a note explaining the origins of both the album, and the song.

In August, WICKED's Willemijn Verkaik starred in Scott Alan's concert performance of his new musical HOME at IndigO2 at the 02. The concert was the first time entire score from HOME THE MUSICAL had been revealed. Below, check out Verkaik perform the Overture and the opening song from the show!

As BroawayWorld previously reported, beginning performances on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, Willemijn Verkaik will make her Broadway debut as Elphaba in the blockbuster musical WICKED. An award-winning actress who has performed the role for more than 1,000 performances in Germany and Holland, Ms. Verkaik will perform the role for a special 15-week engagement. She is currently headlining the Dutch production of WICKED and will play her final performance there on January 11, 2013.
