​​​​​​​Silkroad, the global musical ensemble founded by cellist and cultural ambassador Yo-Yo Ma, announced today a partnership with the University of Limerick (UL) in Ireland. The artistic and educational collaboration will provide UL students with the unique opportunity to participate in the creation of a theater work exploring the history, cultures, and music of the immigrant communities who built the American Transcontinental Railroad.

San Diego Opera will present the world premiere of Gabriela Lena Frank's El último sueño de Frida y Diego (The Last Dream of Frida and Diego) on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at the San Diego Civic Theatre for four performances.

The American Classical Orchestra (ACO), New York City's foremost period instrument orchestra, opens its 2022-23 season on Thursday, September 22 at Alice Tully Hall, with the first of four orchestral performances. Conducted by Founder and Artistic Director Thomas Crawford, the concert offers symphonies by Schubert and C.P.E. Bach, in addition to showcasing the dazzling pianist Petra Somlai in one of Beethoven's most demanding concertos.

Meadowmount School of Music has awarded its inaugural Gurrena Fellowship, worth $50,000, to 25-year-old cellist Sydney Lee. The announcement was made at the final student concert of this year’s session, on August 10, at which Lee performed Schumann’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in A minor, Op. 105.

Recorded live at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas, Botti and the DSO, conducted by Albert-George Schram, are joined by vocalists Veronica Swift and Sy Smith, violinist Caroline Campbell, guitarist Leo Amuedo and saxophonist Chad Lefkowitz-Brown.

‘Jubilation’ features 13-tracks of instrumental runs, songs inspired by the Civil War and America’s barn dance eras, and music influenced by greats from Tony Rice, Flatt and Scruggs, and 8-string fiddle pioneer Benny Martin to Bob Dylan and Led Zeppelin. The album’s first single “Blue Ridge Mountain Baby” is out now. Johnson County Community College’s Midwest Trust Center will present Chris Botti August 24, 2022, 7:30 p.m. Grammy Award-winning master trumpeter and composer Chris Botti has amassed a spectacular variety of honors, including multiple Gold and Platinum albums, to become the largest selling instrumental artist in the United States. 

Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts and the National Symphony Orchestra have commissioned a new work by famed Latin Jazz multi-instrumentalist and composer Paquito D'Rivera. Entitled “The Journey,” the new work is a concerto for cello, clarinet, erhu, and orchestra. Yo-Yo Ma, cello, and Paquito D'Rivera, clarinet, will be joined by Cathy Yang, erhu, and the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by José Luis Gomez.

Produced by fellow GRAMMY-winner Joe Henry (Bonnie Raitt, Rhiannon Giddens), Age Of Apathy was recorded through a unique residency with Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. Working both on-site at their studio with GRAMMY-nominated engineer Darren Schneider while collaborating entirely remotely with Henry.
