The National YoungArts Foundation today announces a dynamic roster of public programs for its 35th anniversary season encompassing a series of new performances, showcases, exhibitions, and interdisciplinary collaborations across a broad range of art forms-from the organization's first resident dance company Complexions Contemporary Ballet; and "Pairings at Ted's," a new dinner and performance series; to site-specific installations and public discussions with creative leaders such as Daniel Arsham, Franklin Sirmans and Fab 5 Freddy. The season underscores YoungArts' longstanding commitment to supporting the nation's next generation of artists by providing transformative educational and professional opportunities, including master classes, workshops, and mentorship programs with such renowned arts leaders as Carrie Mae Weems, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Frank Gehry, Wynton Marsalis, Jeff Koons, Kerry Washington, Robert Redford, and Placido Domingo, among others.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2015-16 season on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 2pm with the return of three-time Amateur Night at the Apollo winners Black Violin. Celebrating the September 18, 2015 release of their newest album, Stereotypes, this classically trained violin duo inspires young people to get fired up about classical music with their unique fusion of classical, hip-hop, jazz, blues, and R&B. Throughout her illustrious career, Bernadette Peters has dazzled audiences and critics with her performances on stage and television, in concert, and on recordings. One of Broadway's most critically acclaimed performers, Bernadette has won numerous accolades including three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, two Grammy Awards, three Emmy nominations and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She recently appeared in City Center's Encores! production, A BED A CHAIR: A New York Love Affair featuring the music of Stephen Sondheim and orchestrations by Wynton Marsalis. Other recent Broadway credits include Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Follies, which also played the Kennedy Center.
Keyboardist, alto horn player, composer, and founding member of Loose Tubes Django Bates will compose the score for a new stage production of Jules Verne's classic 1873 novel, Around the World in 80 Days, running at the St. James Theatre from 26 November 2015 - 17 January 2016 with a press night on 3 December 2015. In an adaptation by playwright Laura Eason, a writer on hit Netflix series House of Cards, the production will be directed by Lucy Bailey and produced by Simon Friend Entertainment, St. James Theatre Productions and Ros Povey Productions. Casting will be announced shortly.

The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia (UBC) presents the world's leading flamenco guitarist Paco Peña, October 24 at 8pm in the Chan Shun Concert Hall. Peña's latest show Flamencura features the renowned flamenco master, known for his rapid flourishes and delicate shading on guitar, and a group of impassioned dancers, singers and musicians in a fiery tribute to the rich history of the treasured art form.
GABRIELLE STRAVELLI - the celebrated pop/jazz vocalist and songwriter called an "outstanding singer" by The Wall Street Journal and "hotter than the equator" by The Village Voice, will celebrate her upcoming self-titled CD with her debut solo engagement at 54 Below for four concerts directed by Grammy Award nominated nightlife legend Marilyn Maye, starting on Tuesday, September 29. The new album, produced by David Cook (Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Marianne Faithfull), will be released later this season. The recording's first single - a passionate reworking of the Cole Porter classic "Dream Dancing" - will be available on iTunes on Friday, September 25. The show's centerpiece is a selection of Gabrielle's sophisticated original songs, in addition to classic standards and numbers by Bob Dorough ("Where Is the Song?"), Brian Wilson ("Busy Doin' Nothin'") and The Indigo Girls ("The Power of Two"). For the engagement, Stravelli will be joined by Joshua Richman on piano, Pat O'Leary on bass and Eric Halvorson on drums.
Two additional performance dates have been added to pianist Anthony de Mare's concert tour of his new 3-CD album Liaisons: Re-Imaging Sondheim from The Piano. De Mare will perform selections from the recording at Bard College on November 2 and at Chicago's PianoForte Studios on December 12. The remaining tour dates include Virginia Tech in Blacksburg VA (September 18) and performances of ALL 36 piano works - split up over three concerts in New York at Birdland (September 24), The Sheen Center (October 22) and Symphony Space (November 19).
