NYC's Ballets With a Twist Presents COCKTAIL HOUR: THE SHOW, 6/23

National YoungArts Foundation Announces Second Annual New York Gala, 4/20

On Thursday, April 20, the National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) will welcome 280 of New York City's top cultural and community leaders, philanthropists, celebrities and art aficionados to the second annual YoungArts New York Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Temple of Dendur in The Sackler Wing. Presented in collaboration with luxury brand Swarovski, with support from Max Mara, the event will be hosted by honorary co-chairs Debbie Allen, Agnes Gund and Sir Salman Rushdie, as well as gala co-chairs Sarah Arison and Thomas Wilhelm, and Gillian Hearst Simonds and Christian Simonds. The YoungArts New York Gala will be emceed by former Gossip Girl and The Knick actress Zuzanna Szadkowski (1997 Winner in Theater and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), and will feature an elegant reception and seated dinner by Restaurant Associates. Throughout the evening, a series of interdisciplinary performance vignettes will be directed by YoungArts alumni Jake Goldbas (2007 Winner in Jazz), featuring soul singer and songwriter Grace Weber (2006 Winner in Voice and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), jazz singer, songwriter and bassist Kate Davis (2009 Winner in Jazz and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), R&B/pop singer and songwriter and The Voice Season 8 Top 5 contestant India Carney (2011 Winner in Theater, Voice and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts), modern dancer Javon Jones (2016 Winner in Dance and inaugural Max Mara Young Visionary Award recipient) alongside four recent YoungArts dance alumni, and more.

Dance Theatre Of Harlem Kicks Off Season With 2017 VISION GALA

Dance Theatre of Harlem (Virginia Johnson, Artistic Director; Anna Glass, Executive Director), is thrilled to announce that its 2017 hometown season will kick off on April 19 with a live performance by Grammy Award-winning recording artist India.Ariewith students from the Dance Theatre of Harlem School performing the world premiere of High Above, featuring choreography by DTH resident choreographer Robert Garland.

The Nash Summer Workshops Announced

Jazz musicians, students and enthusiasts are invited to hang out at The Nash this summer, jam with other students, learn new techniques, or try out different styles of jazz. From bop to brass, guitar to vocals, the popular jazz club will be buzzing as musicians work with instructors in a wide range of classes and workshops.

Mondavi Center Announces 2017-18 Season

The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis announces its 16th season of performing arts, filled with the leading artists in music, dance, theater and speakers. The season begins on September 22, 2017 with the Mondavi Center debut of Los Tigres Del Norte and concludes May 24, 2018 with the return of the San Francisco Symphony. The season also features the debut performance of The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra led by Keith Lockhart, on April 19, 2018.

Quincy Tyler Bernstine to Star in Lynn Nottage's INTIMATE APPAREL at McCarter

McCarter Theatre Center closes the 2016-2017 Theater Series with a new production of Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel, a story of an African-American seamstress living in 1905 New York City pursuing her dreams of love and independence. Directed by Jade King Carroll, Intimate Apparel will run from May 5 to June 4.

Da Camera presents Terence Blanchard at Wortham Theatre Center 4/22

On Saturday, April 22, Da Camera of Houston presents four-time Grammy Award winning trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard at the Cullen Theater, Wortham Theater Center. Since embarking on his solo recording career, the New Orleans-born and -based artist has traveled many paths musically, including delivering adventurous and provocative acoustic jazz outings of original material and composing over 50 soundtracks. Now Blanchard powerfully and playfully journeys into a new jazz realm with his quintet, The E-Collective - an exciting zone of grooved fusion teeming with funk, R&B and blues colors. It is his first foray into straight-up groove.
