Grammy-winning identical twins and Juilliard grads Peter and Will Anderson present 'Benny Meets Artie' at Feinstein's/54 Below. The Andersons will explore the lives and music of two American cultural icons, clarinetists Benny Goodman & Artie Shaw, featuring their jazz sextet of vocalist Molly Ryan, pianist Rossano Sportiello, drummer Phil Stewart, and bassist Clovis Nicolas. Songs will include swing era hits a?oeSing, Sing Sing,a?? a?oeBegin the Beguine,a?? a?oeStardust,a?? and a?oeMoonglow.a?? Raised in poverty in Chicago, Benny Goodman was a classical clarinet prodigy who soon sparked an international swing craze in the 1930s, and premiered the first jazz concert at Carnegie Hall in 1938. Artie Shaw was a composer, author, and master clarinetist, pushing musical boundaries by blending American swing with European and Latin styles.

This coming January, world famous saxophone player, bandleader and producer Igor Butman will travel to the United States for a five-city tour of some of the country's most celebrated jazz institutions. The tour will mark the twentieth anniversary of Butman's acclaimed Moscow Jazz Orchestra, a 16-piece powerhouse ensemble described by DownBeat Magazine as 'an outfit of virtuosos.' Butman, a firm proponent of cross-border and cross genre-collaboration, has performed with a long roster of jazz greats including Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Lionel Hampton, Grover Washington Jr and Wynton Marsalis, among others. The jazz luminary continues his ambassadorship of modern Russian culture with his upcoming Winter tour of the United States. Butman, along with the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, will perform at the Blue Note, in New York City January 30th through February 2nd, at the Keystone Corner in Baltimore on February 5th, at the South Miami Dade Cultural Arts Center on February 7th in Cutler Bay, Florida, at The Promontory in Hyde Park, Chicago, on February 9th, at Center Makor in Boston on February 12th, and at the Blue Llama in Ann Arbor, Michigan on February 13th.
On the heels of Blue Engine Records' banner 2019─which included six album releases and a GRAMMY® Award-nomination for Una Noche con Rubén Blades─Jazz at Lincoln Center's in-house recording label proudly announces plans to release four new albums featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis in January, February and March of 2020. Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 2020 winter-spring season will run from February 6 through the end of June, bringing music to over a dozen venues across the five boroughs of New York City. The season includes two Carnegie Hall subscription series concerts led by Principal Conductor Bernard Labadie; OSL's signature Chamber Music Series with two all-Beethoven programs; a collaboration with New York's MasterVoices in Sheldon Harnick's English language version of Bizet's Carmen; and Music in Color: Eleanor Alberga, OSL's annual five borough free concert tour highlighting the works and lives of classical composers of color.
