La Miranda Theatre Presents TALE OF AN ALLERGIST'S WIFE, 10/1-17

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & MC COY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT are thrilled to present Marilu Henner, who will be reprising her critically-acclaimed Broadway performance as Lee Green and Caroline Aaron will star as Marjorie Taub in a newly-revised version of Charles Busch's hilarious Broadway hit, THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE, directed by Jeff Maynard (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE will open October 1 and run through Sunday, October 17 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.

ACT Announces September Events

September is loaded with a variety of plays, readings, presentations and parties, starting with David Rambo's portrait of renowned advice columnist Ann Landers in The Lady With All the Answers. Also answering the big questions is ACT's new lecture series, InterACTions with 'The Physiology of Imagination and the Aesthetics of Stability' with historian Mott Greene. The popular Pinter Fortnightly series and Short Stories Live return, along with Seattle Dance Project's 2010-2011 season opener, Project Orpheus, based on the tragic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. September also marks the return of ACT Out! Gala & Benefit, a fun filled night featuring the talents if UMO Ensemble, 'Awesome' and The Love Markets.

Over sixty-five years before Woody Allen's film, 'Bananas,' there was Richard Harding Davis's comedy about a country in Central America where you never knew who is in charge - and whether or not you'd live until lunchtime. I was forty-five years old when a theatre professional I greatly admired first took me out to lunch to discuss his lifetime of experience and my fledgling career as a critic.  If my mother were alive to see it, I'm sure she would find nothing creepy about the scene.  But in his frequently clever coming-of-age-in-the-theatre story, Secrets of The Trade, playwright Jonathan Tolins teases the audience with moments of potential creepiness in drawing out the relationship between an 18-year-old aspiring Broadway Baby and the decades-older Tony-collecting writer/director he idolizes.

Lead producer Michael Cohl today announced the complete cast for SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, which begins rehearsals this morning. Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, and new music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark will begin previews at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street) on November 14, with opening night set for December 21.
