The Public Theater's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Alight at the Delacorte Next Week

A friendly reminder! The Public Theater will begin previews for the second Free Shakespeare in the Park production of the season, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, today, July 11. Directed by Obie Award winner and The Public's Founder of Public Works and Resident Director Lear deBessonet, and choreography by Chase Brock, the show will run through Sunday, August 13 and officially open on Monday, July 31.

Mac Rogers' Sci-Fi Thriller STEAL THE STARS to Premiere with Weekly Episodes Starting This August

Gideon Media (a new venture from Gideon Productions, producers of the critically-acclaimed The Honeycomb Trilogy, Universal Robots, and Viral) in association with Tor Books & Tor Labs will present Steal the Stars, a noir science fiction thriller by Mac Rogers (award-winning writer of the global hit podcast thrillers, The Message and LifeAfter), released as 14 episodes, airing weekly from August 2 - November 1, 2017, and available worldwide on all major podcast distributors including iTunes, Stitcher, and GooglePlay through the Macmillan Podcast Network.

Chester Theatre Company to present SKELETON CREW

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to present Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew in the historic Chester Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA, from July 13 - 23, 2017. The production is directed by Awoye Timpo, making her CTC directorial debut. In this 'deeply moral and deeply American play' (The New York Times), Reggie has worked his way up to supervisor at a faltering auto factory. Now he has to decide whether he owes his loyalty to himself, to his bosses, or to long-time family friend Faye and the younger workers on the line, Dez and Shanita. In the spirit of August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, this third play from Morisseau's Detroit Trilogy explores the hard choices facing Americans barely squeezing by. It was named by the New York Times as 'one of six plays that reckon with an anxious America.'

Simon Godwin's MEASURE FOR MEASURE Enters Final Week at TFANA

Simon Godwin's (Associate Director, London's National Theatre) acclaimed staging of Measure for Measure, William Shakespeare's dark comedy about justice, faith, power, sex and family, will close as scheduled next week, on July 16. Just 15 New York performances remain of the production.

Cast, Creatives Complete for KILL LOCAL World Premiere at La Jolla Playhouse

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of Kill Local, by UC San Diego MFA playwriting graduate Mat Smart, directed by Jackson Gay (Kingdom City), running August 1 - 27 (press opening: Sunday, August 6) in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre.

Project Y Theatre Company Commissions 9 Plays by Women

In an effort to broaden opportunities for women playwrights, Project Y Theatre Company has commissioned nine female playwrights in two separate productions, Great Again, an evening of plays by Crystal Skillman and Chiori Miyagawa, and The Hrosthvitha Project, 7 adaptations of the 10th century female-written play 'Dulcitius' written by playwrights Caridad Svich, Pia Wilson, Julienne Hairston, Michole Biancosino, Lia Romeo, Stacie Lents, and Erin Mallon.

2016 Primus Prize Winner IN A WORD Premieres Tonight at Cherry Lane Theatre

Lesser America (Half Moon Bay, The Bachelors, Carnival Kids, Trevor) presents the New York Premiere of IN A WORD by Lauren Yee, winner of the 2016 Francesca Primus Prize and a finalist for the ATCA/Steinberg Award. Directed by Tyne Rafaeli (The Bridges of Madison County national tour, Actually at Geffen Playhouse), previews began June 16 at Cherry Lane Theatre, where Lesser America continues its run as the inaugural Company in Residence. Opening night is slated for tonight, June 21.

Works by Nwandu, Jung, Colon and More Set for IGNITION Festival 2017 at Victory Gardens

Victory Gardens Theater announces the lineup for the 2017 IGNITION Festival of New Plays, including Tuvalu, or The Saddest Song by Antoinette Nwandu; This Land Was Made by Tori Sampson; Spin Moves by Ken Weitzman; Tell Them I'm Still Young by Julia Doolittle; Wolf Play by Hansol Jung; and Suspension by Kristiana Rae Colon.

Signdance Collective to Bring CARTHAGE/CARTAGENA to Theaterlab This July

Theaterlab will host the UK-based performance company Signdance Collective as they celebrate their 30-year anniversary with its international tour of Carthage/Cartagena by Obie Award-winning playwright Caridad Svich. Performances are July 19 through 21, 2017 at Theaterlab's Midtown loft space (357 West 36th Street, 3rd Floor, NYC).

Brian Charles Rooney to Star in MISS BLANCHE TELLS IT ALL at NYMF

This summer, Brian Charles Rooney will star as Miss Blanche, in the Premiere of the solo musical, Miss Blanche Tells It All by Jason Jacobs & Matthew C. Pritchard. Directed by Gisela Cardenas, with musical direction by Robert Frost and choreography by Nicole Curcio, it will begin performances as part of this year New York Musical Festival (NYMF) beginning July 12 at Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St).

TheatreWorks Announces COME FROM AWAY Composers & More for 2017 New Works Festival

Continuing its commitment to developing new works, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will gather playwrights and composers from across the nation for its 2017 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre, where the public can attend performances, participate in a panel discussion with the artists, and share in the journey of developing new works for the American theatre. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli has announced a stellar line-up which includes staged readings of two musicals, three plays, and other special events.

Theatre for a New Audience presents Simon Godwin's (Associate Director, London's National Theatre) Measure for Measure, William Shakespeare's dark comedy about justice, faith, power, sex and family. Measure for Measure is the first time Godwin is directing Shakespeare with an American company. The production runs this weekend, June 17, through July 16 at Polonsky Shakespeare Center (262 Ashland Place) in the Brooklyn Cultural District.
