Factory Theater to Stage HOTEL APHRODITE, 11/7-12/20

Factory Theater presents Hotel Aphrodite by Angelina Martinez, directed by Matt Engle, playing previews Friday, November 7th and Saturday, November 8th at 8pm and Sunday, November 9th at 3pm. Opening Night Performance: Friday, November 14th at 8:00pm. The run continues Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm through Saturday December 20th.

MASTER WORKS: THE DEGAS PLAYS Comes to Commedia Beauregard This Weekend

Commedia Beauregard, a Chicago-based theatre company, announces the publication of three play collections as part of its Master Works short play festival. This is the seventh time that Commedia Beauregard has held the festival, which translates paintings to the stage, but the first time the plays will be available in print. The new scripts include works based on the paintings of Rembrandt, Van Gogh and Degas. This year's offering, Master Works: The Degas Plays will also be performed at the Den Theatre for one weekend only -- today, May 29th through June 1st, 2014. Shows are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

THE FROZEN ON THE SQUARE, BLUE PLANET & More Set for Akvavit Theatre's 2014-15 Season

Akvavit Theatre, now in its fourth year producing theatrical works that explore the Nordic experience, is thrilled to announce their 2014-2015 season. First up is the U.S. premiere of The Frozen on the Square (1982) by Lucas Svensson, opening October 9 at The Den Theatre. And on February 13, 2015, the U.S. premiere of Blue Planet by Andri Snaer Magnason, will open at DCASE's Storefront Theater. Other Akvavit happenings include a one-night-only performance of Pippi's Lost Stockings: a Skirt-Raiser on Friday August 22, and Akvavit's biennial Nordic Spirit Festival - a series of staged readings of contemporary Nordic plays - in December.

In a world premiere production, Babes With Blades Theatre Company is proud to present L'Imbecile, by Aaron Adair, at Rivendell Theatre, 5779 N. Ridge Ave. in Chicago. Previews will be today, April 5, Thursday April 10, and Friday April 11 at 8PM. The opening is Saturday, April 12 at 8PM, and the show will run Thursdays-Fridays at 8PM and Saturdays at both 4PM and 8PM from April 12-May 10.

Akvavit Theatre presents their second production of the 2013 - 2014 season, Icelandic playwright Bjarni Jonsson's MISHAP!, translated by Hilmar Ramos and playing at The Side Project, 1439 W. Jarvis Ave. The show opens February 20 and will run through March 23. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 3PM. There will be a special industry night performance on Monday, March 10 at 8PM.

Akvavit Theatre Continues GJENGANGER Through 3/24

Akvavit Theatre presents two Chicago and one United States premieres of the work of Europe's most-produced living playwright, Norway's Jon Fosse, under the unified title of Gjenganger, February 28 - March 24, 2013 at the DCASE Storefront Theater, 66 East Randolph St. The "short full-length" plays, presented in rotation (two per night and all three Sundays) are: Winter, directed by Paul S. Holmquist, Autumn Dream, directed by Breahan Eve Pautsch,* and A Summer's Day, directed by Wm. Bullion.* Original musical arrangements for the three plays are by Dag Juhlin of Poi Dog Pondering. The performance schedule for Gjenganger is Thursdays (A Summer's Day/Winter), Fridays (Winter/Autumn Dream) and Saturdays (Autumn Dream/A Summer's Day) at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays (all three plays) at 3 p.m. ("Gjenganger" is the Norwegian word for "those who walk again.")
