Conor McPherson's THE NIGHT ALIVE Begins Previews at Steppenwolf Tonight

Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Chicago-premiere production of The Night Alive by Conor McPherson begins tonight. Henry Wishcamper directs a cast featuring ensemble members Francis Guinan and Tim Hopper with Helen Sadler, Dan Waller and M. Emmet Walsh. The world premiere of The Night Alive was produced at the Donmar Warehouse in 2013.

Jim Brochu Returns to Barrington Stage in CHARACTER MAN, Beginning Tonight

Barrington Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, welcomes the return of Drama Desk Award-winner Jim Brochu in his new show Character Man, following his wildly successful run of Zero Hour in 2011. A musical valentine celebrating the Golden Age of the American Musical, Character Man will be presented at BSC's St. Germain Stage at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center from tonight, September 18 through 28. The press opening is Saturday, September 20 at 7:30pm.

EgoPo's DEATH OF A SALESMAN to Run 10/22-11/9

EgoPo Classic Theater's 2014-15 American Giants Festival gets underway with Arthur Miller's American classic, Death of a Salesman, running October 22-November 9 at the Latvian Society. The Philadelphia revival of this iconic play is in honor of Miller's upcoming 100th Birthday. In this production, Miller's Jewish roots are faithfully unearthed in a powerful restaging of his haunting play. Venture back to the 1940's, into the Brooklyn home of the Loman family, to attend the Shiva of a poor working man. Willy Loman's mind opens before your eyes, as you peer in, and join him on his search for meaning.

BWW Recap: BOARDWALK EMPIRE: Different Dogs, Same Bone

Here we are again, back for the second episode of BOARDWALK EMPIRE's final season. The episode, entitled “The Good Listener”, hit the ground running this week as we caught back up with that major ensemble of brilliant characters we've been missing. The episode opened with a montage of Eddie Cantor singing, fish frying and other oddities, as abstract openings appear to be a theme this season. We pull out into the episode through the ear canal of Eli Thompson, who we find worse for wear, waking up from what appears to be a drunken stupor.

Natalia Zukerman Streams New Album On The Advocate and SheWired; to be Released 9/16

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Natalia Zukerman returns with her sixth studio album Come Thief, Come Fire, out September 16th on Talisman Records. The follow up to 2011's Gas Station Roses, which No Depression called 'a rare treat,' Zukerman's latest offering expands on her craft, while seeing her explore new sonic territories, and all the while delivering her most immediate, heartfelt and compelling release to date.

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY Extends Booking Through October 2015

September will be a month to remember for the record-breaking and award-winning West End production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes. In the month that sees the book mark its 50th anniversary, and Roald Dahl Day celebrate Dahl's work, life and legacy, the production has sold its one millionth ticket, and today producers have announced an extension to its booking period, until 31 October 2015.

Columbia Children's Theatre's 10th Season Opens with HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, 9/19-28

Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT), the Midlands' only professional theatre for families and young audiences will present How I Became a Pirate, September 19-28. Show times are Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m.; and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. There will be a special "adults only" Late Night Date Night performance at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26. All shows are held at Columbia Children's Theatre on the 2nd level of Richland Mall, 3400 Forest Drive. Tickets are $10.00 for children three years of age through adult. The White Plains Performing Arts Center Play Reading Series Continues with DEATH OF A SALESMAN

The White Plains Performing Arts Center play reading series, that features the Tony Award-winners for "Best Play" since the award's creation in 1948, continues with this months' reading of Arthur Miller's Death of Salesman on Friday, September 12 at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10 each. The Nakd Stage Play Reading Series features actors with scripts in hand, no sets, costumes or props. It's all about the words.

Stephen Costello Set for San Francisco Opera World Premiere, Return to the Met, Debut at Wigmore and More in 2014-15

Stephen Costello looks forward to a number of important firsts in 2014-15. Besides creating the role of Michele in San Francisco Opera's world premiere production of Two Women, the Tucker Award-winning tenor returns to the Metropolitan Opera for a pair of house role debuts, reprising his star turn as Alfredo -- also seen this season at the Vienna State Opera -- in La traviata, and singing Camille in Susan Stroman's new staging of The Merry Widow. He makes his professional role debut as Ferrando in Così fan tutte at Houston Grand Opera, and house debuts at both Austin Lyric Opera, in the title role of a new Roméo et Juliette, and London's Wigmore Hall, where he launches the season with a solo recital in the prestigious Rosenblatt Series. Costello also joins his wife, soprano Ailyn Pérez, for romantic duets from their recent hit album, Love Duets, with the BBC Symphony at London's Barbican Hall, and on a U.S. duo recital tour to the opera houses of Washington, Dallas, San Diego, and Philadelphia.
