The Pearl Theatre Company continues its 29th season-the first season in its new home on West 42nd Street-with Shakespeare's Henry IV, Part 1. On the heels of acclaim for its current Bard-centric production, In Acting Shakespeare, The Pearl picks up where the company left off after last year's staging of Richard II, directed by Artistic Director J. R. Sullivan. Henry IV, Part 1 is directed by Davis McCallum and features Resident Acting Company members Bradford Cover as King Henry and Dan Daily as Falstaff.

Today in 1982, Macbeth opened at the Circle in the Square Theatre, where it ran for 21 performances. Written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth is about a regicide and its aftermath. It is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written sometime between 1603 and 1607. The earliest account of a performance of what was probably Shakespeare's play is April 1611, when Simon Forman recorded seeing such a play at the Globe Theatre.

However, to kick off their annual Get Talking Series, Stages Repertory Theatre is giving audiences something to talk about with their production of David Davalos' WITTENBERG. The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra announces the highly anticipated inaugural season of Louis Langrée, the Orchestra's 13th Music Director. Mr. Langrée will take up the baton at historic Music Hall for six of 20 thrilling subscription concert weekends for the 118 year-old Orchestra. The season lineup honors the CSO's rich traditions of presenting classic orchestral repertoire and exploring new musical territory. Groundbreaking collaborations and a diverse array of repertoire set the stage for a vibrant new beginning for the CSO and Mr. Langrée, drawn together by a passion and vision to transform the live concert experience and create inspiring performances. The 2013-14 season is packed with over 67 works of music through the Masterworks, Ascent and Boundless series, and includes two world premiere commissions and visits from four acclaimed composers.

OSF Opens 2013 Season on February 22

The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival's 2013 preview performances begin February 15, and the season will open Friday night, February 22 with Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, directed by David Ivers. On Saturday, August Wilson's Two Trains Running, directed by Lou Bellamy, takes the stage, as does Lerner and Loewe's classic American musical My Fair Lady, directed by Amanda Dehnert. Sunday afternoon in the Thomas Theatre, Shakespeare's King Lear opens, directed by OSF Artistic Director Bill Rauch.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT), Cleveland's Classic Company, commences the second half its 2013-14 season with Noel Coward's comedy, Blithe Spirit. The production will be performed in the company's revolutionary and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, PlayhouseSquare, February 22 - March 10. 2013. Charles Fee, GLT's Producing Artistic Director, directs the production.
La MaMa & The Faux-Real Theatre Co Present OEDIPUS REX XX/XY, Beginning 3/7

The Faux-Real Theatre Company (FRTC) who have been bringing avant-garde theatre to populist audiences since 1994, will present their newest production: the ancient play OEDIPUS REX with a gender bending twist. It's classic theatre performed exactly as Sophocles intended…sort of. Preview performances of OEDIPUS REX XX/XY will begin Thursday March 7th prior to an official press opening on March 10th at La MaMa's First Floor Theatre (74A East 4th Street) in Manhattan. Mark Greenfield, FRTC's Artistic Director, will direct.

The Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) has named a quartet of iconic Japanese filmmakers - Akira Kurosawa, Shinobu Hashimoto, Ryuzo Kikushima, and Hideo Oguni - as honorees of its 2013 Jean Renoir Award for Screenwriting Achievement, given to an international writer(s) who has advanced the literature of motion pictures and made outstanding contributions to the profession of screenwriter.
