PlayPenn Announces Lineup for 2014 New Play Conference

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's nationally recognized professional new play development organization, announces the directors, dramaturgs, actors and designers that will participate in its 10th annual New Play Development Conference. Held from July 6 - July 27 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia, the Conference includes three weeks of intensive work along with staged readings open to the public of six new plays.

Arab and Jewish Musicians Play Together in Atzilur Concert for Peace at Winter Center Tonight

Atzilut 'Concert for Peace' is a 10-member, high energy Middle eastern ensemble that features Arab and Jewish musicians in concert together to make a powerful statement for peace through shared music. This ensemble features virtuoso instrumentalists who are equally proficient in the rhythms and inflections of both Hebrew and Arabic music, and is co-led by Hebrew and Arabic vocal specialists.

Redmoon Requests Proposals for 2014 Great Chicago Fire Festival Community Partners

Redmoon today announces a citywide request for proposals (RFP) from Chicago community-based organizations interested in becoming one of 15 different Community Partner Organizations to anchor the Great Chicago Fire Festival. The inaugural Great Chicago Fire Festival will introduce an annual urban ritual to Chicago in the form of a massive event celebrating Chicago's powerful spirit of resilience. Preparations take place throughout 2014, culminating in a free, public Grand Spectacle float parade down the Chicago River, Saturday, October 4, 2014. The Great Chicago Fire Festival is a project of Redmoon in partnership with the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE).

Squonk's MAYHEM AND MAJESTY to Play 59E59 Theaters, 12/10-29

59E59 Theaters will welcome Squonk with the NYC premiere of MAYHEM AND MAJESTY, created by Jackie Dempsey and Steve O'Hearn with Squonk. MAYHEM AND MAJESTY begins performances on Tuesday, December 10 for a limited engagement through Sunday, December 29. Press opening is Wednesday, December 18 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday at 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM and 7 PM. There is no performance on December 25. PlayPenn, Philadelphia's professional new play development organization, will hold its ninth annual New Play Development Conference from today, July 12-28 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia. The Conference will feature two-and-a-half weeks of intensive work on six works-in-progress by Gabriel Jason Dean (Terminus); Lisa Dillman (No Such Thing); Deborah Zoe Laufer (Informed Consent); Peter Gil-Sheridan (Cockfight); James Ijames (A Thousand Kinds of Silence); and Joe Waechter (Profiles).

PlayPenn to Present New Readings by Thomas Gibbons & Willy Holtzman, 7/22-23

PlayPenn is pleased to announce two additional events for its 2013 Conference, readings of works-in-progress by playwrights Thomas Gibbons (Uncanny Valley) and Willy Holtzman (The First Mrs. Rochester) on Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23, respectively.
