With the original run and first extension completely sold out, Steep Theatre is extending the run of Ike Holter's Red Rex through March 30. Jack Miggins, who was nominated for a Jeff Award for his work in Steep's 2014 production of The Vandal, will join the cast in the role of Adam beginning on March 13. Tickets are on sale now at steeptheatre.com/redrex, and they're expected to sell very quickly. 

Steele Spring Stage Rights, the licensing company that represents The Marvelous Wonderettes, has just acquired the licensing and theatrical performance rights to the hit Off-Broadway parody musical mash-up about a pair of Mormon missionaries and their attempt to convert their unsuspecting target, musical theatre legend Ethel Merman!

The Playgroup, LLC will present the second production of its fourth season at the Willow Theatre at Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton, 'Can't Live Without You', written by Philip Middleton Williams and directed by Jerry Jensen.

The thrilling style of film director David Lynch meets the heartbreaking pathos of playwright William Inge in John Kuntz's remarkable The Hotel Nepenthe. Four actors inhabit 19 characters who live or work in or around The Hotel Nepenthe, a locale straight out of a film noir from Hollywood's golden era.

Transport Group has announced that its annual A Toast to the Artist gala will honor Tony Award-winning orchestrator Michael Starboin and composer Carmel Dean with the Transporting American Theatre Award. The evening takes place Monday, March 11 at 6:30pm at The Current, Pier 59 @ Chelsea Piers, and includes a cocktail party, seated dinner, performances, dessert reception, and silent and live auctions. The Transporting American Theatre Award recognizes significant contributions to the American Theatre. Past recipients of the Transporting American Theatre Award include Dick Scanlan, Mary- Mitchell Campbell, Michael John LaChiusa, Gretchen Shugart, Barbara Whitman, Beth Williams, Sue Frost, Christian Borle, Paul Huntley, Douglas Carter Beane, Lewis Flinn, A.R. In April, New Conservatory Theatre Center is thrilled to present Philip Dawkins' The Gentleman Caller, directed by Arturo Catricala. After incredibly successful productions of The Homosexuals (2014) and Le Switch (2017) playwright Philip Dawkins is rapidly becoming an NCTC favorite.

To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Parkland shooting, NewYorkRep will present a nation-wide series of staged readings of the award-winning, Off-Broadway play, CHURCH & STATE on February 14 at seven universities throughout the US.  

A frequent creative fixture of Los Angeles Theatre, as well as, in theatre communities nationwide; Gilbert Glenn Brown will next be sharing his acting acumen and gravitas on the Garry Marshall Theatre stage reprising his role of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Katori Hall's Olivier Award-winning THE MOUNTAINTOP, beginning February 6, 2019. I managed to catch Gilbert for a few moments between juggling his many acting commitments to answer a few of my queries.

One of the silver screen's most popular musicals, Singin' in the Rain comes to the stage of Woodbury's Arts Center of Cannon County with all the trappings of a box office smash: memorable score, talented actors and enough technical razzle-dazzle to delight even the most discerning of theater-goers. Opening February 8 (and continuing through February 23) at ACCC, the stage musical stars Austin Jeffrey Smith, Lindsey Mapes Duggin and Daxton Patrick in the film roles immortalized by Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor in the award-winning 1952 film version.

In January, Steep Ensemble Member Jonathan Berry returns to Steep to direct the world premiere of Ike Holter's Red Rex, the sixth play in Holter's seven-play "Rightlynd Saga" about Chicago. Since the 2012 production of his Hit the Wall, Holter's work has gained increasing national and international attention. In describing the "Rightlynd Saga," Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune opined that it "might just be one of the most significant literary achievements in modern-day Chicago." Holter's play Rightlynd, part of the seven-play saga, is currently in production at Victory Gardens Theatre, and his Lottery Day, the final play in the saga, premieres in the Spring of 2019 at the Goodman Theatre. Director Jonathan Berry has been at the helm of many of Steep's most memorable shows, including the recent smash-hit production of Simon Stephens' Birdland.

Co-Producers Tom Vitorino and Alice L. Walker (Thursday Night Theater Club), have signed acclaimed director/actor, Robyn Cohen for The Elephant Man by Bernard Pomerance at The El Portal Theatre MainStage.  Both Vitorino and Walker are thrilled to have Robyn Cohen at the helm directing their cast of twelve. This will be her second time to direct with Thursday Night Theater Club.

AmerIcon Monroe, in conjunction with Robo & Bash Productions and Cryptic Entertainment, proudly presents the timeless comedy, Bus Stop, by William Inge. The play, directed by Vanessa Waters, is taking place at the Avery Schreiber Playhouse in North Hollywood. The play opens February 8, 2019, and will run Friday through Sunday for three weekends. Showtime on Fridays and Saturdays is at 8pm, Sundays at 3pm. The play will close February 24, 2019.

Transport Group has announced that casting for The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, written by Daniel Berrigan and directed by artistic director Jack Cummings III, includes Mia Katigbak (Awake and Sing!, I Remember Mama), Eunice Wong (Mourning Becomes Electra, Smart People) and David Huynh (Henry VI, A Midsummer Night's Dream). The Trial of the Catonsville Nine runs Wednesday, January 16 through Sunday, February 23, 2019 at the Abrons Arts Center, 466 Grand Street. The opening night is scheduled for Wednesday, February 6 at 7:30pm.

-A small theater company moves into an abandoned Chicago storefront. Led by their adventurously thirsty artistic director, they embark on an explosive new play with the hope of finally breaking it big. When the ensemble realizes their source material might not be as original as once assumed, they are thrust into an intense confrontation with residents of their new community, who not only want them out, but will take their story back by any means necessary. Red Rex is the sixth play in Ike Holter's seven part 'Rightlynd Saga," which also includes Exit Strategy, Prowess, and The Wolf at the End of the Block.
