LURED, a brutal and honest depiction of gay persecution in Russia, written by Frank J. Avella, and co-directed by Carlotta Brentan, will have a world premiere 3-week run at Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Artistic Director) November 8-25, 2018. Following its New York run, the play will head to Europe where it was accepted into the Onstage! American Theater Festival in Rome, Italy, with performances there on January 25th & 26th 2019.

Nine Nashville area actors have been cast in the upcoming production of Mart Crowley's The Boys in the Band, which will play six performances at The Barbershop Theatre, 4003 Indiana Avenue, in a production helmed by veteran director Jeffrey Ellis, who is known throughout Tennessee as a leading theater journalist and critic.

Theresa Rebeck, the creator and executive producer of NBC's SMASH, is set to premiere her new pilot, The Russian Cousin, at the 2018 North Folk TV Festival. 

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the recent Off-Broadway hit, 'The Understudy,' a backstage comedy about a Hollywood action star rehearsing for a role on Broadway amid tensions with his understudy.  The cast includes Eric Bryant, Connecticut Critics Circle Award winner; Brett Dalton of ABC's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'; and Andrea Syglowski, award-winning actress. Running August 14 through September 1, the comedy is written by Theresa Rebeck, creator of NBC's show business drama, 'Smash,' and directed by David Kennedy, Westport Country Playhouse associate artistic director.

Williams Street Repertory (Founding Artistic Director Richard Kuranda) is excited to announce the world premiere of Deborah Yarchun's (2017 - 2018 Dramatists Guild Foundation Fellow, ) "Bomber's Moon" at Raue Center For The Arts. An homage to 1930s films with a contemporary twist, this dark, romantic and intense two-character drama explores identity, isolation and encounters that can alter the course of one's life. "Bomber's Moon" opens September 28, 2018, and runs select dates through October 21, 2018.

Avella, explores the persecution of gays in Russia and will have a World Premiere 3-week run at Theater for the New City (Crystal Field, Artistic Director) November 8-25, 2018. In addition, the play was accepted into the Onstage! American Theater Festival in Rome, Italy, with performances January 25 & 26, 2019. Lured will be co-directed by Mr. Avella and Carlotta Brentan. The U.S. production is a TNC/Impetus Ensemble co-production.

Portland Shakespeare Project and Proscenium Journal, in association with Artists Repertory Theatre, present the fourth annual Proscenium Live Festival of New Work with four nights of fresh plays. All performances are free and begin at 7:30pm on Artists Rep's Alder Stage.

Animus Theatre Company (Jonathan Judge-Russo, Founding Artistic Director) in association with the Circle in the Square Professional Workshop, has announced the schedule and casting for its annual 12-Hour Reading Festival, which returns to Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre this Thursday, July 19, beginning at 11:00am. This year's festival, which will showcase the repertoire of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Beth Henley (Crimes of the Heart), will feature company artists will include Haley Bond, Sara Canter, Jonathan Judge-Russo (A Rainy Day in New York, "Law & Order: SVU"), Trevor Kluckman, Alan Langdon, Brad Lemons, Amy Northup, Courtney Shaw and Karen Sours Albisua ("The Chi," "The Bridge").

The Possum Point Players' affiliate group, Possum Juniors (PJ), are back this summer with William Inge's Bus Stop. Directed by PJ member Braeden Swain, performances will be held July 20 and 21 at 7:00 PM and July 22 at 2:00 at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Highway in Georgetown, Delaware.

Eclipse Theatre Company, the only Midwest theatre company to feature one playwright in one season, will continue their 2018 William Inge Season with Bus Stop, directed by ensemble member Steve Scott.
