NYFOS Next Festival of New Songs Sets Casts, Programs for February

New York Festival of Song's contemporary song series NYFOS Next -- dubbed 'invaluable' by The New Yorker and The New York Times -- enters its sixth season and continues its new format: a three-concert February mini-festival in the intimate state-of-the-art recital hall at OPERA America's National Opera Center. The Thursday concerts take place February 4, 11, and 18, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.

Symphony & Opera Principals Join SFCM Woodwind Faculty

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music announces the appointment of two principal artists from the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera Orchestra to its woodwind faculty. Carey Bell, principal clarinet with the San Francisco Symphony, and Mingjia Liu, principal oboe with the San Francisco Opera, will begin teaching at SFCM in the fall semester of 2016. With these appointments, SFCM students will have the opportunity to study with a faculty that includes 30 members of the San Francisco Symphony, including 17 principal, associate, and assistant principal players, as well as four principals from the San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet orchestras.

Detroit Symphony Orchestra Celebrates Third Consecutive Surplus and More

Phillip Wm. Fisher, Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Board Chairman since December 2012, closed the 2015 Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Annual Meeting of the Governing Members today as his last official order of business as Chairman. Mark Davidoff, Michigan Managing Partner at Deloitte LLP, was elected DSO Chairman by the Board of Directors during their meeting following the Governing Members' proceedings.

The Dallas Opera to Present Frederica von Stade in Concert, 1/31

 DALLAS, TX, December 8, 2015 – The Dallas Opera will present opera legend Frederica von Stade, mezzo-soprano, for another magnificent performance in The Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Art Song Recital Series. The one-time-only recital will be presented Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at City Performance Hall (a 749-seat venue located at 2520 Flora Street in the Arts District, Dallas, TX 75201). Also featured at the exclusive event will be Jake Heggie, composer (Great Scott, Moby-Dick) and accomplished pianist, who has had a long-standing artistic collaboration with Miss von Stade.

C4 Presents 'VOCAL - C4 HONORS ITS FOUNDATIONS' Tonight

C4: The Choral Composer/Conductor Collective will present Vocal - C4 Honors Its Foundations: Music for Voices Alone, the first concerts of its Cornerstones 2015-16 New York season tonight, November 19 at 8:00 PM at Church of the Transfiguration, 1 East 29th Street (between 5th and Madison Avenues) in Manhattan and Saturday, November 21 at 8:00 PM at The Church of St. Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson Street (south of Christopher Street), also in Manhattan.

Montrose Trio Set for CMSDetroit Series Tonight

The Montrose Trio, a major new piano trio that made its international debut as an ensemble on the Chamber Music Society of Detroit series in 2013-14, will return to the CMSDetroit Signature Chamber Series tonight, November 14, 2015 at 8 PM.  The concert takes place at Seligman Performing Arts Center, located at 22305 West 13 Mile Road (at Lahser Road) in Beverly Hills, on the campus of Detroit Country Day School.
