Soprano Lisa Delan Performs at San Francisco Conservatory Tonight

Soprano Lisa Delan (class of 1989) will perform on the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's distinguished Alumni Recital Series tonight, February 11, 2015, at 8 p.m. Ms. Delan's program will include works by American composers John Corigliano, David Garner, Gordon Getty, Jake Heggie and Luna Pearl Woolf. She will be joined by special guests Matt Haimovitz, Christopher O'Riley and Jake Heggie. The concert, held at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's Sol Joseph Recital Hall, is dedicated to the memory of pianist Kristin Pankonin (class of 1989), alumna and former staff pianist of the Conservatory.

Opera on Tap Debuts NEW BREW GOES TO MICHIGAN at Barbes in Brooklyn Tonight

On February 6th, New Brew will share their love of the Wolverine State with a program of music from, about, or related to the Great State of Michigan, featuring selections by our very own Christopher Berg, William Bolcom, William Flanagan, Irving Berlin and many more. Featuring: David Gordon, Annie Hiatt, Seth Gilman, Alex Guerrero, and Krista Wozniak, with Maestro Berg on the keys.

Minnesota Opera to Premiere THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE, 3/7

MINNEAPOLIS (January 26, 2015) – Minnesota Opera Music Director Michael Christie leads the world premiere performances of The Manchurian Candidate, March 7–15, 2015in the Ordway Music Theater. Christie is recognized as “ … a top-notch conductor of new works …” by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Based on the novel by Richard Condon and directed by Kevin Newbury, The Manchurian Candidate traces the mysterious story of an American soldier decorated during the Korean War who is brainwashed into becoming an unwitting assassin in a conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. government. This taut and suspenseful thriller is the highly anticipated second opera by composer Kevin Puts and librettist Mark Campbell, creators of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Silent Night.

Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic Announce 2015-16 Season

The New York Philharmonic's 2015-16 season reflects Music Director Alan Gilbert's and the organization's belief in the rich rewards of collaboration with artistic and institutional leaders, and in expanding the idea of what a symphony orchestra can be through a range of diverse programming and educational activities. Pit Stop Players to Present BOLLING NIGHT, 2/9

The Pit Stop Players, a fourteen-member instrumental ensemble composed of veteran Broadway pit musicians, will present "Bolling Night," an evening of music by the legendary Claude Bolling, plus pieces by other composers who combine jazz and classical idioms. The event will take place Monday, February 9, at 7:30 pm, at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, New York City.
