AARP The Magazine today announced the nominees for the upcoming 18th Annual Movies for Grownups® Awards, with A Star Is Born, BlacKkKlansman, Can You Ever Forgive Me?, Green Book and Roma contending in the Best Picture/Best Movie for Grownups category. The awards celebrate 2018's standout films with unique appeal to movie lovers with a grownup state of mind and recognize the inspiring artists who make them. Celebrated comedian and actor Martin Short will host the star-studded evening at the Beverly Wilshire, Beverly Hills on Monday, February 4. 

WBUR, Boston's NPR news station, and The New York Times, in partnership with the Huntington Theatre Company, are celebrating Valentine's Day with a special live performance of Modern Love: The Podcast. Hosted by Meghna Chakrabarti (host of Modern Love: The Podcast as well as NPR & WBUR's On Point) with Daniel Jones (editor of the NYT "Modern Love" column), the event will be a live recording of the hit podcast featuring three Modern Love essays read by top actors from stage and screen. It will also feature a live musical performance. Modern Love Live will take place on Sat., Feb. 16, 2019 at 8 p.m. at the Huntington Avenue Theatre, 264 Huntington Ave. Tickets go on sale to the general public Thursday, Dec. 20. Prices start at $25.

Fabrique Du Cinema Awards, organized by the magazine Fabrique Du Cinema from Rome, Italy, which defines itself as 'the magazine of the new Italian cinema',and whose 2018 jury is presided over by two-times Academy Award-winner Paul Haggis, has unveiled 2018 Award Finalists.

The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture has announced its 2019 winter/spring season, a rich program of theater, film, music, poetry, art, and talk events featuring artists and thought leaders including Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter;Tony Award winner Lena Hall; Grammy Award-winning musician and recording artist Eileen Ivers; Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award nomineeAlexander Gemignani;and journalist and former Wall Street Journal columnist Sohrab Ahmari.

Roma took two top awards from the Toronto Film Critics Association, named the year's Best Picture winner with Alfonso Cuarón chosen Best Director.

Last night, Jason Momoa stopped by Times Square before surprising fans at a screening of Aquaman in New York.

The Gotham Awards ceremony was held last night, Monday, November 26th, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

Not quite the casting news one would expect for a movie like Aquaman, but a thrilling revelation to be sure. According to EW, Julie Andrews will 'appear' in the upcoming film. 

Amazon Prime members can be the first to experience the epic, action-packed adventure in the stunning undersea world of Atlantis. Aquaman is sure to be at the top of everyone's wish list this season and Prime members will get exclusive access to an early showing of Warner Bros. Rupert Friend will star in Separation, directed by William Brent Bell and written by Nick Amadeus and Joshua Braun.  The film is produced by Bell together with Yale Productions' Jordan Yale Levine, Jordan Beckerman, Russ Posternak and Jesse Korman, and RainMaker's Clay Pecorin and Russell Geyser.   Executive producers are Seth Posternak and Dennis Rice.  Yale Productions' Jon Keeyes serves as a Co-Producer.

The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation's premier member organization of independent storytellers, announced today the nominees for the 28th Annual IFP Gotham Awards. Ten competitive awards will be presented to independent features and series. In addition to the competitive awards, Gotham Tributes will be given to actors Rachel Weisz and Willem Dafoe, director Paul Greengrass, and the Gotham Industry Tribute to Jon Kamen.

Blue Mountain Gallery, 530 West 25th St in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Pamela Berkeley entitled Then And Now. Included will be 30 oil-on-canvas paintings by the artist representing new works and an oeuvre spanning five decades of her career. The exhibition runs from Tuesday, November 27th to Saturday, December 22nd. There will be an opening reception and opportunity to meet the artist on Thursday, November 29th from 5 to 8 pm. Berkeley will also be at the gallery every subsequent Saturday for the duration of the show. There will be a second reception on Sat., December, 1st from 3 to 5.
