The Public Theater has revealed the cast for the Free Shakespeare in the Park production of Public Works’ THE TEMPEST, a new musical adaptation.

The Public will premiere new musicals and plays by Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz, 15-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys, Tony Award winner Itamar Moses, Emerging Writers Group alumni Mary Kathryn Nagle and Ife Olujobi, Pulitzer Prize winner and Writer-in-Residence Suzan- Lori Parks, and Jonathan Larson Grant recipient Benjamin Velez.

Get a first look below at the Mobile Unit's production of THE TEMPEST, directed by Laurie Woolery. THE TEMPEST, beginning its run at The Public on Monday, April 29, following a three-week tour to correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations, and community centers.

Continuing its commitment to bringing free Shakespeare to the community and strengthening audience engagement through the arts, The Public Theater, under the leadership of Artistic Director Oskar Eustis and Executive Director Patrick Willingham, will mount its MOBILE UNIT again this spring with a free three-week tour to the five boroughs of Shakespeare's THE TEMPEST, directed by Laurie Woolery. Now in its ninth year, the Mobile Unit's free tour (April 4-27) brings Shakespeare and other works to audiences who have limited or no access to the arts by visiting correctional facilities, homeless shelters, social service organizations, and other community venues.

???????A cast of nine women led by Karen Lynn Gorney bring to life a story of the generational effects of the Holocaust in 'From Silence,' a new play by Anne Marilyn Lucas.  It is widely acknowledged that even as Holocaust survivors are passing on, their trauma lives on in their children and grand children.  This play explores how such trauma is inherited even without being spoken of, seemingly as a genetic or behavioral legacy.  The piece then illustrates that speaking out, processing and understanding can bring healing to families.  This world premiere will be presented by Theater for the New City from November 4 to 20, directed by Peter Zachari.
