The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel to Release DVD of Verdi's REQUIEM, 11/19

Los Angeles, CA (November 5, 2013) - Grammy-winners Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic will release their DVD and Blu-ray of Verdi's Requiem on C Major Entertainment, distributed in the USA by Naxos of America, on November 19, 2013. In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Verdi's birth, the DVD was recorded live at the Hollywood Bowl on August 13 & 15, 2013, and features the Los Angeles Master Chorale, directed by Grant Gershon, and four world-class soloists. Theinternational release date is November 17, 2013. This is the first release from Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil recorded at the Hollywood Bowl.

Angel City Chorale (ACC), Los Angeles' most entertaining and spirited choir, kicks off the season this year with Joyful, Joyful, its 20th annual holiday concert and sing-along, taking place over two nights the first weekend of December on Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Wilshire United Methodist Church. The 160-member Angel City Chorale will perform its unique mix of Christmas and Chanukah favorites, as well as original compositions, in the group's eclectic combination of styles ranging from classical to pop, incorporating contemporary, world, and gospel beats. Both performances start at 7:00pm. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door, with discounts for students and seniors. Both engagements are debuts for Honeck—his first time leading the Philadelphia Orchestra and his first time conducting at Disney Hall. He has led the Pittsburgh Symphony since 2007.

Sergei Prokofiev composed Peter and the Wolf in the space of a few days in 1936, largely to explain symphonic instruments to a Moscow children's theater audience. On Nov. 17, 2013, at Jorgensen, the classic favorite will be told through puppets, courtesy of the unique UConn Puppet Arts Program and designer Mark Gale, guest narrator and WNPR talk show host Colin McEnroe, and instrumentalists under the direction of UConn alumnus Ehren Brown. The matinee will start at 2 p.m.

If/Then will play Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street) in spring 2014, beginning preview performances on March 5, and officially opening on Thursday, March 27, 2014.
