Warner Music Group Names Dirk Ewald as SVP, Global Catalogue Managment

Warner Music Group Corp. (WMG) today announced the appointment of Dirk Ewald to SVP, Global Catalogue Management, reporting into Kevin Gore, President & CEO, Rhino Entertainment & Global Catalogue. Based in London, Ewald will work closely with recorded music teams around the world to harness consumer insights, identify commercial opportunities and devise high profile global, regional and local marketing campaigns for catalogue and compilation releases. He will also be responsible for overseeing the creation and diversification of product lines and developing strategies for associated rights.

Ewald joins WMG from Parlophone Label Group (PLG) and, before that, EMI, where he held a number of senior roles. Most recently he served as SVP Catalogue, Europe, Japan and Australasia, which involved the management of regional marketing campaigns for artists including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Queen, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull and a variety of Classical and Jazz musicians. He was also responsible for European label deals with Walt Disney Records, Century Media and Wind-Up Records. Previously he worked in catalogue and sales for EMI in Germany, having started his career at the German independent label Intercord.

Kevin Gore said, "Dirk is a fantastic addition to our line-up of executive talent. Not only does he bring a passion for great music and a deep knowledge of the catalogue industry, he has a flair for innovation that results in fresh, impactful campaigns that deliver real commercial success."

"The PLG acquisition brought together two amazing catalogues and united many of music's crown jewels under one roof. With Dirk's appointment we are further strengthening the global team responsible for maximizing the potential of that tremendous body of work and ensuring we continue to provide the best possible results for our legendary artists in every market."

Dirk Ewald said, "It's a really great time to join Warner Music and I have huge respect for Kevin and his dynamic team. The Warner Music catalogue is a truly exceptional collection of music that includes many of the world's most popular and influential artists. I look forward to working with my new colleagues as well as the artists and their representatives around the globe to introduce new generations to these outstanding acts as well as finding creative ways to excite and engage existing fans."

Ewald will work alongside Tim Fraser-Harding, SVP, Global Catalogue, to develop strategic opportunities for Warner Music catalogue artists. Warner Music's Catalogue includes music from the likes of: Led Zeppelin, Pet Shop Boys, Fleetwood Mac, The Bee Gees, Radiohead, Daft Punk, The Smiths, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Chicago, Duran Duran, Jethro Tull, The Monkees, Kate Bush, Black Sabbath, Edith Piaf and John Coltrane.
