Despite the success of Fame on both the big and small screens, David De Silva's heart was on the stage. SHINE! The Horatio Alger Musical with a Book by Richard Seff; Music by Roger Dean Anderson and Lyrics by Lee Goldsmith is being presented by Other Side Productions (Peter Mercurio, Chuck Blasius - Co-Artistic Directors) as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival at The Theater at St. Clements, 423 West 46th Street.

Bristol Riverside Theatre concludes its Summer Musicale series with Broadway Rocks on August 12-22. This homage to Broadway showstoppers features Demetria Joyce Bailey, Justin Gabriel Ballasy, Lois Sach Binder, Anthony D'Amato, Jennie Eisenhower and John D. Smitherman performing some of Broadway's most popular songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Elton John, Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein.

The game is afoot! Master sleuth Sherlock Holmes and trusty sidekick Dr. Watson unlock the mystery of The Hound of the Baskervilles this summer at Central Square Theater, directed by Thomas Derrah of the American Repertory Theater.

William Shakespeare's classic comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream is re-imagined with a queer aesthetic in Mauckingbird Theatre Company's gender-bent tale of modern love, directed by Mauckingbird Artistic Director Peter Reynolds and co-Director Lynne Innerst.

Act II Playhouse opens its 12th season of live theatre in Ambler with the Philadelphia premiere of john & jen, written by Andrew Lippa and Tom Greenwald. This original chamber musical about family connections - which recalls the 'Forrest Gump' era - will be on stage Sept. 21-Oct. 17; Opening Night is on Friday, Sept. 24.

Principal cast changes have been announced for the Broadway production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, the longest-running show in Broadway history. Produced by Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Group, Inc. and directed by Harold Prince, the musical is in its phenomenal 23rd year in New York, playing at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street).

After its Cincinnati run, HIGH will move to Broadway early in 2011. This powerful and gripping adult drama begins previews in the Playhouse's Robert S. Marx Theatre September 4 and continues through October 2.

Pulse Ensemble Theatre's Harlem Summer Shakespeare production of 'Macbeth,' which was to be presented in Riverbank State Park's park's indoor theater facility August 12-28, has been shifted at the last moment to the park's Amphitheater on the same dates, making it possible to present the production under the stars.

Wednesday shows have been added for the culminating event of Pulse Ensemble Theatre's twentieth season, its production of 'Macbeth,' directed by Alexa Kelly, at Riverbank State Park August 12-28.

Plays & Players, Center City Philadelphia's longest continually operating theater at 1714 Delancey Place, will produce William Shakespeare's earliest tragedy Titus Andronicus from September 16-October 2, 2010, with two preview performances during the Philly Fringe.
