LUNT AND FONTANNE: The Celestials Of Broadway will have its New York Premiere at The New York International Fringe Festival in August. The famous duo of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne are played by real life married actor-couple Mark E. Lang and Alison Murphy, who met fifteen years ago performing in Cape May, New Jersey. They have subsequently worked together numerous times on stage in New Jersey and elsewhere. The play was written by Mark E. Lang, inspired by a comment from a theater-goer who exclaimed, 'You two are becoming the Lunt & Fontanne of South Jersey.'

Retro Productions is celebrating their 10th anniversary with, The Butter and Egg Man by George S. Kaufman. Perhaps one of Kaufman's lesser known works, The Butter and Egg Man is a wonderful comedy about producing theater and was one of Kaufman's biggest Broadway successes when it opened at the Longacre Theatre in 1925. The production is directed by Ricardo Rust, who co-produced Retro Productions, An Appeal to the Woman of the House which was nominated for 3 New York Innovative Theater Awards and won an award for Heather E. In this humorous allegory for the AIDS crisis in the 1980s, Anna, an unmarried schoolteacher, is diagnosed with ATD (Acquired Toilet Disease). It's fatal and mysterious, so she and her brother Carl take off for a dream tour of Europe before the inevitable happens. As Anna drowns herself in the sensuality of food and sex, Carl becomes involved in a wild Third Mannish espionage scheme to find a cure for his sister. But the cracks in the story start to widen and soon the audience becomes aware that they are engaged in Anna's fantasy attempt at keeping her brother's spirit alive when she cannot save his life.
