Ford's Theatre Sets Records with 2016-17, Featuring COME FROM AWAY and More

Ford's Theatre Society announced that it set revenue and attendance records with its 2016-2017 theatrical season, which included the musicals Come From Away and Ragtime, productions of A Christmas Carol and Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and the one-act play One Destiny. More than 153,000 patrons attended performances, and ticket sales brought in more than $6 million, making 2016-2017 the highest attended and highest grossing theatrical season in Ford's Theatre history.

Bergen County Players Presents STANDING ON CEREMONY THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS

Bergen County Players (BCP) concludes its 84th season with a staged reading of Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays. Conceived by BCP alum Brian Shnipper and directed by Mark Rinis, this anthology of monologues and short plays began as a series of benefit events in Los Angeles, taking on a life of their own as an inspiring theatrical evening. Dramatists Guild of America Comments on 'VIRGINIA WOOLF?' Casting Controversy in Oregon

Controversy erupted last week over the casting of a black actor in a Portland, Oregon, production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Shoebox Theatre director Michael Streeter was asked by the Albee estate to re-cast the role with a white actor. He refused, and the estate pulled the rights. The Dramatists Guild is aware of the recent casting controversy and has just released the following statement.
