Pacific Opera Project Partners With Occidental College Glee Club To Present Verdi's LA TRAVIATA

Pacific Opera Project (POP) joins forces with The Occidental College Glee Club for two performances of Giuseppe Verdi's La traviata on October 27 and 28, 2018 at Occidental College's Thorne Hall. Following a wonderful experience together producing The Rake's Progress in 2016, the collaboration allows POP to present Verdi's masterpiece with a more than 50-member chorus of Occidental Glee Club students and a POP professional chorus, plus a large orchestra.

The Royal Opera House Announces Month Of Sundays Festival

The Royal Opera House is throwing open its doors every Sunday in November for an immersive new festival programme at just £5 per person. Exclusive pop-up opera and ballet performances will animate the new Royal Opera House spaces; upcycling workshops will transform props of the past; and dance workshops will help you to limber up before you fall down the rabbit hole with Alice to drink tea at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Each weekend, audiences are encouraged to feel something new, with a unique range of daytime events and activities for all ages.

Opera Colorado Opens LA TRAVIATA In November

Opera Colorado opens its 2018-19 season in just a few weeks, with an opulent production of Verdi's La Traviata-one of the most beloved operatic works of all time. The production opens Saturday, November 3, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House with additional performances on November 6, 9, and 11.

Jérémie Rhorer to Leads New Production Of LA TRAVIATA

Conductor Jeremie Rhorer, founder of Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, makes his debut London Philharmonic Orchestra debut at Royal Festival Hall on Saturday, October 13, 2018. Rhorer will conduct two monumental choral works: Carl Orff's canonic Carmina Burana and Francis Poulenc's rarely-heard Stabat Mater. Rhorer will lead the London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Philharmonic Choir as well as a trio of accomplished vocalists: soprano Louise Adler, tenor Toby Spencer, and baritone Simon Keenlyside.

Chicago Opera Theater Presents Tchaikovsky's IOLANTA In Season-Opening Performances

Chicago Opera Theater (COT) will kick off the 2018/2019 season with "Iolanta," a Chicago premiere of legendary composer P.I. Tchaikovsky's final opera. Internationally renowned and award-winning conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya will make her conducting debut as Chicago Opera Theater's Staley Music Director and set the tone for the season to come. Acclaimed stage director Paul Curran, known for his work at Santa Fe Opera, Lyric Opera Chicago and more, will shape the retelling of this joyous love-story, featuring an almost entirely Chicago-based cast including soprano Katherine Weber as Iolanta, and renowned Russian bass Mikhail Svetlov as Rene. The opening night and press performance takes place on Saturday, November 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the historic Studebaker Theater (410 S. Michigan Ave.) Additional performances will take place Thursday, November 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 18 at 3 p.m.

LA TRAVIATA Comes To Estonian National Opera 10/14

Guiseppe Verdi's timeless opera La traviata makes its way to the Estonian National Opera through Spring 2019. The first performance will be on October 14th 5:00 and will play select dates through June. Tickets can be purchased online, in person at the box office or by telephone and are non-refundable.

Edward Nelson Will Replace Elliot Madore As A Soloist For A WALT WHITMAN SAMPLER

American Symphony Orchestra's 2018-19 season will open with A Walt Whitman Sampler on October 17 at Carnegie Hall, and has announced that rising American soprano Angel Blue will sing the New York premiere of Franz Schreker's Vom ewigen Leben (From Eternal Life). Dubbed by Placido Domingo as "the next Leontyne Price," the young opera singer and BBC Proms host/presenter will next appear in September at the Metropolitan Opera as Musetta in La Boheme, and in the Royal Opera's production of La Traviata as Violetta in January 2019. Edward Nelson is the guest soloist for the New York premiere of Kurt Weill's Four Walt Whitman Songs. Both vocalists will also perform in Ralph Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony.

Investec Opera Holland Park Announces 2019 Season Casts And Dates

Manon Lescaut, sponsored by Viking Cruises, opens the season with the British lyric soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn in the title role. Named 'Best newcomer in opera' by The Telegraph in 2010 following her operatic debut as Mimi in La boheme at English National Opera, Llewellyn has gone from strength to strength on the international stage. She was last at OHP in 2017, as Magda in La rondine. The Welsh bass-baritone Paul Carey Jones makes his OHP debut as Lescaut. His recent career highlights include his Royal Opera House debut in The Nose and the Scottish premiere of Philip Glass's The Trial with Scottish Opera.
