49th NAACP Image Awards to Be Telecast Live MLK Day, January 15

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and TV One, a television network dedicated to the best of black culture and entertainment, today announced that the 49th NAACP Image Awards will be nationally telecast live on TV One on Monday, January 15, 2018, the federal holiday marking the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The two-hour special will also include a live pre-show from the star-studded red carpet.

OWN Announces New Docu-Series BLACK LOVE

OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, will premiere the four episode docu-series, “Black Love,” from filmmakers Codie Elaine Oliver and Tommy Oliver (“The Perfect Guy”) and Confluential Films, on Tuesday, August 29 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (after an all new episode of Tyler Perry's “The Haves and the Have Nots” at 9 p.m. ET/PT). The series will air regularly on Saturdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning on September 2.

Brandon Gill to Star in TOO HEAVY FOR YOUR POCKET This Fall at Roundabout

Roundabout Theatre Company presents the first new play of Roundabout Underground's expanded 2017-2018 season, the world-premiere production of Too Heavy For Your Pocket by Jireh Breon Holder, directed by Margot Bordelon, and featuring Eboni Flowers (Evelyn Brandon), Hampton Fluker (Tony Carter), Brandon Gill (Bowzie Brandon) and Nneka Okafor (Sally-Mae Carter).

BLACK-ISH Among ABC's 36 EMMY Nominations

ABC received 36 Primetime Emmy nominations this morning, including a second consecutive nomination for critically acclaimed comedy series “black-ish” and Lead Actress Tracee Ellis Ross, as well as a third consecutive nomination for Lead Actor Anthony Anderson.

Producer Scott Rudin announced today that, beginning Tuesday, July 25, Tony Award winner Julie White (Little Dog Laughed), Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences), and Erin Wilhelmi (The Crucible) will join Tony Award winner Jayne Houdyshell in the Broadway cast of Lucas Hnath's hit play, A Doll's House, Part 2.
