His characters, all based on real people he knew, wanted to free society of its strict bourgeois moral code and some of their ideas have taken root over the century and a half since the book's publication.

Nashville-based Oginalii (pronounced 'oh-gan-ALL-ee' and which translates to 'my friend' in Cherokee) unveils 'No Littering,' a call for empathy and the third single from their forthcoming debut LP Cause and Affection, set for release on April 9, 2019. 'Empathy is more than foreplay. Trying to grow understanding in any kind of relationship is difficult, especially when it's hard to relate from the beginning,' says shredder and vocalist Emma Hoeflinger of the song's meaning. 'That's why empathy has always and will always be at the forefront of situations I put myself in. Trying to put yourself where others are mentally and emotionally gives you insight into what it's like to be outside of yourself. This glimpse into another's perspective makes you a better human in my opinion. 'Forgotten Kindness' is about just that,' she continues. 'This song is about humbling oneself, and instead of blaming others for the chaos around you, taking action and growing from it.”
At the core of Annie Baker's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, THE FLICK is the juxtaposition between celluloid and digital film projections, art and commercialism, reality and make-believe. But it's more than that. It's a character study of the everyman navigating familial workplace relationships and discerning what is real and what's fake.
In the case of the Barlett Theater's production, which opened last weekend, what makes Baker's play about a single-screen theater even more credible, is the fact that it's being presented in a movie theater. Here the audience is positioned with their backs to the screen, facing the multi-leveled, cushy brown seats, where the crux of the action takes place. And it works.
Rising LA-based band Bay Ledges—led by songwriter and producer Zach Hurd—will release their new EP, In Waves, on November 30 via S-Curve Records. Additionally, the band's newest song, “Electric Dream,” premieres at PopMatters, who says, “Replete with melodious, atmospheric synths and a cool, laid-back disposition, 'Electric Dream' feels a lot like what its name implies. The tune takes ample influence from disco and electropop scenes with synthetic beats and melodies pervading the soundscape's halls from the front to the back.” Listen/share the track here: https://bayledges.ffm.to/electricdream.
Infusing his signature breed of wonky trap across productions that range from glossy, to experimental, to undeniably heavy, QUIX conjures a spellbinding masterpiece on his sophomore Dim Mak EP Illusions. The New Zealand native's matured production capabilities are on full display throughout the suspenseful opener “Get Down.' QUIX's use of organic-meets-electronic elements continues on “Giving Up,' a dreamy, future bass meets hard-hitting trap heater, and “Earthquake,' a colossal trap-dubstep hybrid that partners perfectly with Bok Nero's dominant flow. The next two tracks further showcase QUIX's wide range of skills, shifting gears for the R&B-influenced crossover “Ride or Die” with vocalist Reigan and the Vincent collaboration “Hero.' The EP finishes with Aviella's wavy vocals over QUIX's archetypal-style production on “All I Have.'
