The 10-episode, hour-long drama series is inspired by the story of infamous crime boss Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), who in the early 1960s returned from ten years in prison to find the neighborhood he once ruled in shambles. With the streets controlled by the Italian mob, Bumpy must take on the Genovese crime family to regain control. During the brutal battle, he forms an alliance with radical preacher Malcolm X (Nigél Thatch) – catching Malcolm's political rise in the crosshairs of social upheaval and a mob war that threatens to tear the city apart. GODFATHER OF HARLEM is a collision of the criminal underworld and the civil rights movement during one of the most tumultuous times in American history.
The Oscar-Qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival saw a record 6,000 submissions from over 80 countries for their 15th anniversary. The organizers are thrilled to announce that over 400 films from 30 different countries will compete for this year's top prizes during the festival's 10-day run from August 8-17 at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. Last year, four HollyShorts finalists were nominated for an Academy Award with three bringing home the gold, including the Best Live Action Short a?oeSkina?? from filmmakers Andrew Carlberg, Guy Nattiv, and Jaime Ray Newman.

Queens Theatre is excited to announce its new training program specifically for early-career Deaf and disabled actors with its Theatre For All Initiative. The 49th Annual Nashville Film Festival continues its announcement of incredible star-power participation with acclaimed actor and director Colin Hanks confirmed to attend a special screening of his acclaimed 2015 Tower Records documentary All Things Must Pass followed by an intimate Q&A. This marks the Nashville premiere of the documentary which explores the rise and fall of Tower Records and its legacy forged by its founder Russ Solomon and its place in the music industry. The special screening will take place at on Thursday, May 17 (7 pm) at Regal Hollywood 27, tickets will be available for individual purchase to NashFilm members on Monday, April 16 and to the public on Wednesday, April 18. General Admission tickets will be $15.
