MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale), closes its 75th anniversary season with Victor Herbert's Babes in Toyland on April 27, 2017 at 7pm at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall (57th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019). The production will be conducted and directed by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling and will feature Kelli O'Hara, Bill Irwin, Lauren Worsham, Christopher Fitzgerald, Jonathan Freeman, Chris Sullivan, Jeffrey Schecter, and the 130 singers of MasterVoices, with Orchestra of St. Luke's. Musical Staging by Andrew Palermo.
The production will be conducted by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling and will feature previously announced stars Kelli O'Hara, Bill Irwin, Lauren Worsham, Christopher Fitzgerald - with Jonathan Freeman, Chris Sullivan, and Jeffrey Schecter just joining the lineup - alongside 130 singers of MasterVoices, with Orchestra of St. Luke's.
Named for alto saxophonist and jazz pioneer Charlie 'Bird' Parker who dubbed it 'The Jazz Corner of the World,' Birdland opened on December 15th 1949. For 60 years it has been home to jazz legends, from Parker, John Coltrane Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Oscar Peterson, Hank Jones, Diana Krall and everyone in between. The original 52nd street location was a cultural barometer and meeting place, inspiring the songs 'Birdland' and 'Lullaby of Birdland,' and serving as a regular haunt for celebrities and cultural figures. The festive program includes March of the Toys by Victor Herbert, "Christmas Concerto" by Arcangelo Corelli, selections from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, and Robert Shaw's The Many Moods of Christmas. Of course, no Holiday POPS! concert is complete without the tradition of the audience joining in on carols arranged by Leroy Anderson.

MasterVoices raised over $200,000 at its 2016 Fall Galain support of its artistic and outreach programs on October 20. The event featured the New York premiere performance of Ricky Ian Gordon and Royce Vavrek's opera 27 starring Metropolitan Opera mezzo Stephanie Blythe as Stein, Heidi Stober, Theo Lebow, Tobias Greenhalgh, and Daniel Brevik directed by James Robinson and conducted by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling with 150 singers of MasterVoices and Orchestra of St. Luke's. The evening featured Scenic Design by Allen Moyer, Costumes by James Schuette and Lighting by James. F. Ingalls.

M&M Stage Productions presents the charming holiday musical "Babes in Toyland" at Mercer County Community College's (MCCC's) Kelsey Theatre in November. Dates and show times for this family classic are Fridays, Nov. 18 and 25 at 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Nov. 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sundays, Nov. 20 and 27 at 2 p.m. A reception with the cast and crew follows the opening night performance on Nov. 18.

Audiences will get a first look at six wildly different new works that range from imagining moments in the lives of famous people such as Sigmund Freud and Mabel Dodge Luhan or events taking place in a spaceship, an asylum, and a uterus. The composers Matthew Barnson, Carlos R. Carrillo, Nell Shaw Cohen, Marc LeMay, Cecilia Livingston, and Sky Macklay and librettists Edward Einhorn, Duncan McFarlane, Emily Roller, and Mark Sonnenblick, were chosen by AOP to spend a year creating new works in its bi-annual fellowship program Composers & the Voice (C&V).
