DIRTY DANCING Sets Further UK, Ireland Tour Dates

Producers Karl Sydow and Paul Elliott have announced that due to overwhelming demand for tickets around the country, even more dates have now been added to the UK and Ireland tour of the brand new production of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage. Many performances have already sold out, and since originally going on sale in October 2015, over 150,000 tickets have been snapped up, with over £5million taken.

The Drilling Company's critically-praised Steampunk adaptation of 'As You Like It,' which debuted in Shakespeare in the Parking Lot last summer, is to be remounted July 21 to 23 for Bryant Park Presents Shakespeare with its original cast mostly intact and expanded music by Natalie Smith and Andrew Gombas. The production offers delightful lessons of love, starting off in a stately English Victorian world and moving into a Steampunk paradise when the scene shifts from a conventional Duchy to the mythical Forest of Arden. Hamilton Clancy directs.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Javier Muñoz - Lin-Manuel Miranda's alternate in the Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton on Broadway and the actor who portrayed AlexanderHamilton when President Barack Obama saw Hamilton last July - will step into the title role starting July 11 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 W. 46 St.), it has been announced byHamilton producer Jeffrey Seller. Mr. Miranda's final performance in the Broadway production is set for July 9.

It's Official: Javier Munoz Will Take Over in HAMILTON When Lin-Manuel Miranda Departs in July

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, HAMILTON leading man Lin-Manuel Miranda will be exiting the show on July 9 to focus on his upcoming projects, including the starring role in Disney's MARY POPPINS opposite Emily Blunt. In a Heatstreet report last month, it was speculated that he will be replaced by his current alternate, Javier Muñoz, who steps in for Miranda on Sunday matinees.
It appears that the rumors are true, because now they've been confirmed by Miranda himself. He told Washington Post reviewer Peter Marks:

Following their success at the Tony Awards last night, where they won Best Musical Revival for The Color Purple and Cynthia Erivo won Best Actress in a Musical, the Menier Chocolate Factory announces that rehearsals start today in New York for innovative and ground breaking theatre company Fiasco's enchanting reinvention of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's masterpiece Into The Woods. Both Sondheim and Lapine will join the company in rehearsal this week. The production opens on 12 July at the Menier, with previews from 1 July, and runs until 17 September.
