The new production BARASSI THE STAGE SHOW aims to marry two of Melbourne's great loves - theatre and sport. And according to its star Steve Bastoni, this particular combination is a match made in heaven.
BARASSI is the story of iconic Australian footballer, coach, motivator and father of modern football, Ron Barassi depicted in an epic fashion, from child to elder statesman. It is a story of determination, passion and courage, of success and failure. The producers have announced the cast for this premiere production of Barassi, which will open at the Athenaeum Theatre tonight, 20 September. The cast features Steve Bastoni, Chris Asimos, Matt Parkinson, Jane Clifton, Richard Sutherland, Glenn Maynard, Amanda LaBonte, Bartholomew Walsh and footballer Russell Robertson.

Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Blue Oyster Cult--unleashed in 1972, the eponymous debut album from America's heaviest psychedelic metal band presaged punk, thrash and hardcore--with the release of Blue Oyster Cult - The Columbia Albums Collection, a monumental career-spanning BOC library comprised of 16 CDs (the full official canon plus two discs of rarities) and the mythic Some OTHER Enchanted Evening DVD (a blistering concert video from 1978). The highly-collectible boxed set will be available Tuesday, October 30.

Closing out Keegan's 2011-12 season is Tracy Letts' Pulitizer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning play, August: Osage County. Letts' jaw-dropping masterpiece opens on Friday, August 3 and runs through September 2, 2012, at the company's home on Church Street in Dupont Circle. Curtain is 7:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday evenings, with 3pm Sunday matinees.
