Kitchen Theatre Presents COUNT ME IN by Rachel Lampert

A new play for a new year! Kitchen Theatre Company is happy to present the latest work written by and starring Kitchen Theatre Company's Artistic Director, Rachel Lampert (Soup Comes Last, Tony and the Soprano, Bed No Breakfast, In the Company of Dancers, and many others). A search for forgotten friends and memories leads to reunions of all kinds in this heartwarming new play filled with music, dance, and Lampert's singular wit. Count Me In begins previews on January 14, with opening night on January 17.

Tyler M. Perry Wins Kitchen Theatre's 2014 Norma Fire Emerging Artist Award

To remember and honor our dear friend and colleague, actor Norma Fire, Kitchen Theatre Company will present an annual award, the Norma Fire Emerging Artist Award. This award will go to a young theater artist age 30 or younger whose work in the previous season was exemplary and demonstrated great professional potential. The young theater artist may be an actor, director, playwright or designer.

Following the wildly successful world premiere of The House, which rang in the 24th season, Kitchen Theatre Company is pleased to offer Steven Dietz's powerful and moving Lonely Planet. Lonely Planet tells the story of two friends, Jody and Carl, who use their wit and sense of absurdity to negotiate the turbulent world at the height of the AIDS crisis. World Premiere of THE HOUSE Opens Kitchen Theatre Company's 2014-15 Season Tonight

Kitchen Theatre Company begins its 24th Season tonight, September 10, 2014 with the world premiere of an outrageous new comedy, The House by Brian Parks. Downsizing couple, Martyn and Shanny, have struck a For Sale By Owner deal with upsizing couple, Lindsay and Fischer. The empty nesters are set to move to a condo, and the young couple is ready to move in and start a family. But a house full of everything a family accumulates is a lot to pack, so the new owners have given the sellers a few weeks to finish the job.

LEAH IN VEGAS Set for FringeNYC

Drift In, Act Out will present the world premiere of Leah in Vegas, a new play by Kara Ayn Napolitano, with direction by Kristin Skye Hoffman (WINNER: Outstanding Direction FringeNYC 2012) as part of the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC.

SLASHES OF LIGHT tells the story of an African American girl's coming-of-age in Chicago's South Side during the turbulent 1960s. This production connects Civic Ensemble's focus on community-based work by women and people of color with the Kitchen's two decades of producing bold, intimate work that starts 'important conversations.' Previews are today, June 11 and June 12 & 13, opening night is June 14, and the play closes on June 29.
