The Encore, Southeast Michigan's premier professional musical theatre company, has announced the much-anticipated production of Little Shop of Horrors as the grand opener for its 15th anniversary season. This timeless musical comedy is set to captivate audiences from September 7 - 24, promising an unforgettable theatrical experience.

What better way to kick off the New Year than with your favorite classic rock tunes? From Aerosmith's “Dream On” and Journey's “Don't Stop Believin',” to Deep Purple's “Smoke on the Water” and Foreigner's “Cold as Ice”, you'll want to pull on your bell bottoms for this rollicking trip down memory lane.

The Encore’s highly anticipated production of MAMMA MIA! sails onto The Maas stage this month. Arriving on “the Island,” are performers from New York, Chicago, the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance, as well as extraordinary local talent and Encore favorites. 

Billy Joel turns 73 this week and The Encore is celebrating in a big way. One of the best-selling artists of all time, with over 160 million records sold worldwide, Billy Joel has had a successful career as a solo artist since the 1970s. With memorable hits like New York State of Mind, Just the Way You Are, Scenes From an Italian Restaurant and more, The Encore will once again take audiences back in time with their popular tribute concert series. 

The Encore Musical Theatre Company kicks off 2022 with another exciting live music event, The Eagles Tribute Concert.  As with their sell-out Queen Tribute last fall, The Encore promises to Take It to the Limit once again with an evening of classic hits, smooth harmonies and a rockin’ band led by music director, BRIAN ROSE. 

The Encore Musical Theatre Company is bringing back a popular tradition - their Tribute Concert Series. The first in the season lineup is the QUEEN Tribute Concert, which runs October 13th through the 17th. The Encore Musical Theatre kicks off a new season of mainstage musicals with the Broadway hit SMOKEY JOE'S CAFÉ. The longest-running revue in Broadway history, the show features a Grammy-winning score by hitmakers, Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. You'll be dancing in your seat to such instantly recognizable tunes as On Broadway, Fools Fall in Love, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Love Potion #9 and so many more.

Marsha Norman, who won a Pulitzer Prize for Drama for 'Night Mother, took home Tony and Drama Desk Awards in 1991 for a?oeBest Book of a Musicala?? for The Secret Garden. With music by Lucy Simon, The Secret Garden is based on the 1911 classic children's literature novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. And while it's tagged as a?oechildren'sa?? literature, The Secret Garden is not your typical light-hearted, happy-go-lucky matinee outing for the kids.

In the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home, cartoonist Alison Bechdel starts every scene by saying a?oeCaption,a?? followed by a description of what is about to happen. Fun Home was adapted into a musical by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori and is based on Bechdel's memoir of the same name and subtitled a?oeA Family Tragicomic.a?? So let's just say, Caption: Encore Theatre's production of Fun Home is not to be missed.

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Fun Home opens The Encore Musical Theatre Company's 12th season and will run Sept. 12-Oct. 13, 2019. Described as 'A Family Tragicomic,' Fun Home was written by cartoonist Alison Bechdel, best known for her long-running comic strip 'Dykes to Watch Out For.' Named the Best Book of 2006 by Time magazine, Fun Home was adapted into a musical by Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori (Shrek, Violet, Thoroughly Modern Millie) and opened on Broadway in 2015 after a sold-out Off-Broadway run at the Public Theater in 2013.
