The Washington Ballet Announces Dancer Exchange With The Royal Danish Ballet

The Washington Ballet (TWB) is pleased to announce the dancers taking part in this season's exchange program with The Royal Danish Ballet. TWB's Alexandros Pappajohn traveled to Copenhagen, Denmark on April 8 for two months and has been cast in Lady of the Camellias. Tobias Praetorius a member of The Royal Danish Ballet Corps de Ballet performed with TWB in the company's Three World Premieres at The Harman Center April 3-7, 2019. He had a lead role in Trey McIntyre's Teeming Waltzes.

San Francisco Ballet Announces 2020 Repertory Season

Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson and San Francisco Ballet today announced programming for the 2020 Repertory Season. Building on a heritage of commissioning groundbreaking dance from today's top choreographers, uncovering new choreographic talent, staging modern classics, and preserving the works that make up the canon of classic ballet, the 2020 Season places SF Ballet at the forefront of innovation and preeminence. Highlights include two new SF Ballet commissions by Cathy Marston and Trey McIntyre, and a co-commission with American Ballet Theatre of a work by Alexei Ratmansky; as well as works by George Balanchine, David Dawson, Harald Lander, Edwaard Liang, Benjamin Millepied, Mark Morris, Liam Scarlett, Helgi Tomasson, and Stanton Welch. The Season's three story ballets include Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Wheeldon's Cinderella, and Tomasson's Romeo & Juliet.

Parsons Dance Returns To The Joyce For Two-Week Season

Houston Ballet Promotes Nozomi Iijima To Principal

Houston Ballet announces Artistic Director Stanton Welch AM has promoted Nozomi Iijima to the rank of Principal. Formerly a First Soloist, Iijima was promoted on the evening of March 1, 2019 after dancing the title role in Welch's Sylvia. This well-deserved promotion adds to the continued excitement of Houston Ballet's whirlwind of spring productions during its 2018/19 season.

Parsons Dance Closes Out Park City Institute 2018-19 Main Stage Season

Park City Institute presents award-winning contemporary dance company, PARSONS DANCE, this Saturday, March 30th, at 7:30 pm. The show is the final performance in PCI's 2018-19 Main Stage Season at the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Center for the Performing Arts, in Park City.

Parsons Dance Returns to White Bird

New York City's Parsons Dance, one of today's most prominent American dance companies, will return to White Bird after a long absence to perform a six-part program, featuring signature works alongside an exciting tribute to New Orleans jazz. Led by Artistic Director David Parsons, the 8-member company's unstoppable energy and spellbinding technique will provide for a spectacular night of contemporary dance. Bryan Arias Is Awarded 2018-19 Jacob's Pillow Fellowship At Tilles Center For The Performing Arts At LIU Post

Bryan Arias, Artistic Director of ARIAS Company, receives the Jacob's Pillow Fellowship at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts at LIU Post. The fellowship includes a $15,000 grant, a residency at the Pillow Lab, and a residency at LIU Tilles Center. The newly established Fellowship represents a shared vision between the two organizations to broaden resources that allow artists to thrive and bring new work to stages in Massachusetts, New York, and beyond.

Edmund Donovan And Zoey Anderson Take Home Clive Barnes Awards

The Clive Barnes Foundation, under the leadership of former Royal Ballet soloist Valerie Taylor-Barnes, awarded its prizes today for the 9th Annual Clive Barnes Awards, recognizing excellence in Theater and Dance, to Edmund Donovan (Theater, Lewiston/Clarkston) and Zoey Anderson (Dance, Parsons Dance). The awards were presented by Michael Novak, artistic director of Paul Taylor Dance Company and Tony-winner Beth Leavel, currently starring in Broadway's The Prom. The event, hosted by New York Post columnist and WOR radio personality Michael Riedel was held at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago And Malpaso Dance Company Join Forces At The Auditorium Theatre

Two internationally-renowned and innovative contemporary dance companies, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Malpaso Dance Company, share the Auditorium Theatre's landmark stage on March 2 and 3, 2019 as part of the theatre's "Made in Chicago" 312 Dance Series. This two-night-only engagement features two world premieres: a work for Malpaso created by Chicago-based choreographer and former Hubbard Street dancer Robyn Mineko Williams, commissioned by the Auditorium, and a work set on Hubbard Street, choreographed by Malpaso Artistic Director Osnel Delgado and commissioned by Hubbard Street.

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Returns To The Soraya

Smuin Brings Etta James, Rodin & More To Carmel & Mountain View

Smuin continues its 25th anniversary season with Dance Series 01, a dazzling program that pushes the boundaries of contemporary ballet. Acclaimed dancemaker Trey McIntyre returns to Smuin with Blue Until June, a thrilling tribute to Etta James. Continuing Smuin's long-time dedication to fostering new talent within the company is a trio of groundbreaking works first developed in Smuin's Choreography Showcase: Merely Players by Smuin dancer Nicole Haskins, Reflection by Smuin dancer Ben Needham-Wood, and Sinfonietta by former Smuin dancer Rex Wheeler. Dance Series 01 will also include Michael Smuin's timeless Schubert Scherzo, an effervescent dance set to Schubert's sprightly C-Major Symphony and The Eternal Idol, Michael Smuin's romantic pas de deux inspired by Auguste Rodin's iconic sculptures. Dance Series 01 will be presented February 1-2 at the Sunset Center in Carmel and February 21-24 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. Jack Ferver Returns to New York Live Arts

Jacob's Pillow Announces Four Artists Of Festival 2019

In advance of the full Festival announcement in mid-December, Jacob's Pillow announces four companies that will be presented in 2019. Following the record-breaking ticket sales of Festival 2018 and amidst a robust season of artist residencies in the Pillow Lab and new programming which serves Berkshire County's year-round population, America's longest-running dance festival gears up for its 87th consecutive summer, June 19-August 25. Compañia Irene Rodriguez brings a particular vision of flamenco that is both Spanish and Cuban, featuring a world premiere; Caleb Teicher & Company presents More Forever, a highly anticipated new collaboration with innovative composer/pianist Conrad Tao; the Martha Graham Dance Company celebrates female power with Graham classics, a suite of Lamentation Variations, and a new work by Maxine Doyle and Bobbi Jene Smith; and Boston Ballet returns for the first time in over a decade with works by William Forsythe, resident choreographer Jorma Elo, and twentieth century Russian choreographer Leonid Yakobson.
