2012 Equity Jeff Award Nominations Announced

The Jeff Awards Committee announced 197 nominations in 34 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions, which opened between August 1, 2011, and July 31, 2012. The Jeff Awards judges attended opening nights of 118 Equity productions offered by 55 producing organizations. From these openings, 96 productions were 'Jeff Recommended,' which made them eligible for award nominations.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater's FOLLIES, Goodman Theatre Lead Jeff Awards Equity Nominations

Up on the Marquee- GRACE!

Grace, the acclaimed American play written by Award-winning writer Craig Wright (Mistakes Were Made, "Six Feet Under") and directed by Dexter Bullard (Tracy Letts' BUG), stars Paul Rudd and Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon, with Kate Arrington and seven-time Emmy Award-winner Ed Asner. The show begins previews at the Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street) on Thursday, September 13th, with an official opening night set for Thursday, October 4, 2012. BWW Reviews: AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY - A Dysfunctional (Wonderful) Evening at Omaha Community Playhouse

August: Osage County, the 2008 Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning play has taken over the Omaha Community Playhouse. Thursday evening, I went to see this play for the first time and I was not really sure what I was getting myself into. All I knew was that it was a longer play (three and a half hours) about a dysfunctional family. Dysfunctional would be putting it lightly. This family has completely lost it and by losing it, I mean gone, out the window, crazy! Their eccentric personalities and interesting lifestyles will have you rolling over in laughter the whole evening!

Profiles Theatre's SWEET AND SAD Features Co-Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox, Now thru 10/7

Profiles Theatre announces the Midwest premiere of Sweet and Sad by Richard Nelson, opening the company's 2012-2013 season. Sweet and Sad, directed by Joe Jahraus and featuring Co-Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox, runs tonight, August 17, 2012 - October 7, 2012 with the press opening on Friday, August 24 at 8:00 pm. Performances are held at Profiles newest venue, The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway.

Cliff Chamberlain to Lead The House Theatre's THE IRON STAG KING

Dermot Mulroney Signs on for AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Film

As first reported on Deadline.com, Dermot Mulroney has joined the cast of the big screen adaptation of Tracy Letts' AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY as 'Steve.' The actor joins previously announced cast members Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Juliette Lewis, Margo Martindale and Chris Cooper.

Bucks County Playhouse Announces Youth 'Saturday Arts Program', Sept-Nov 2012

Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) (Jed Bernstein, Producing Director) has launched The Saturday Arts Program (SAP), a training ground for passionate young performers. Classes will take place weekly from September 22nd - November 17th at the Bucks County Playhouse, New Hope Solebury High School, and the Solebury School.

The REP Presents AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, 9/7-23

The REP, Point Park University's professional theatre company, launches its 2012 - 2013 season at the Pittsburgh Playhouse on September 7th with a pillar of modern drama, August: Osage County by Tracy Letts. Closing out Keegan's 2011-12 season is Tracy Letts' Pulitizer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning play, August: Osage County. Letts' jaw-dropping masterpiece opens on Friday, August 3 and runs through September 2, 2012, at the company's home on Church Street in Dupont Circle. Curtain is 7:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday evenings, with 3pm Sunday matinees.

This fall, one of America's most acclaimed theatre ensembles will take on one of the greatest plays of the 20th century when the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? comes to Broadway to celebrate the play's 50th anniversary.
