Profiles Theatre's SWEET AND SAD Features Co-Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox, 8/17-10/7

Profiles Theatre announces the Midwest premiere of Sweet and Sad by Richard Nelson, opening the company's 2012-2013 season. Sweet and Sad, directed by Joe Jahraus and featuring Co-Artistic Director Darrell W. Cox, runs August 17, 2012 - October 7, 2012 with the press opening on Friday, August 24 at 8:00 pm. Performances are held at Profiles newest venue, The Main Stage, 4139 N. Broadway.

BWW Reviews: Throughline Theatre Company Tackles AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, Through 7/28

Tracy Letts' 21st century masterpiece August: Osage County is a behemoth of play. Between the drug dependence, incest, perversion, and suicide that plague the eclectic bunch known as the Weston family, there's certainly a lot for one to process during the nearly-three hour marathon that is Letts' Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning monster. For that reason alone, Throughline Theatre Company deserves considerable applause for their decision to take on August during its third season.

The Factory Theatre Presents THE PILLOWMAN, 8/10-18

Art and authority come head-to-head this August as Flat Earth Theatre stages its final production of the 2012 season, The Pillowman, at The Factory Theatre in Boston's historic South End. Written by noted Irish playwright Martin McDonagh, The Pillowman examines the complex relationship between the artist and the state, and ponders the culpability for acts inspired by works of art.

Juliette Lewis in Talks for AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Film

According to Deadline.com, Juliette Lewis is currently in talks to star in the film adaptation of Tracy Letts' August: Osage County, alongside Chris Cooper, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Lewis would play 'self-deluding youngest daughter' Keren.

Chicago's Northlight Theatre Brings THE OUTGOING TIDE to Galway Arts Festival, Now thru July 21

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces that the company's acclaimed World Premiere production of The Outgoing Tide, by Bruce Graham and directed by BJ Jones, will be presented in association with Galway Arts Festival in Galway, Ireland, today, July 17 - July 21, 2012. Cast members John Mahoney, Rondi Reed and Thomas J. Cox, are set to reprise the roles they originated in the Northlight production.

Jeff Daniels' THE MEANING OF ALMOST EVERYTHING to Play Purple Rose Theatre Company in 2013

The Purple Rose Theatre Company has announced the 2012 / 2013 Season, which will feature two world premieres and two plays by award-winning playwrights. The theatre company's 22nd professional season will include: Superior Donuts by Tracy Letts, the world premiere of The Meaning of Almost Everything by Jeff Daniels, 33 Variations by Moises Kaufman and the world premiere of Miles & Ellie by Don Zolidis.

Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and More Join Steppenwolf's 2012-13 Season

Steppenwolf Theatre Company Artistic Director Martha Lavey announced today additional casting for the 2012/13 Subscription and Steppenwolf for Young Adults seasons. Will Allan, Keith Kupferer and Lusia Strus join previously announced ensemble members Alana Arenas, Mariann Mayberry and Molly Regan, completing the cast of the season opener, Good People. The cast of the Steppenwolf for Young Adults production of The Book Thief features ensemble member Francis Guinan with Patrick Andrews, Amy J. Carle, Rob Fagin, Rae Gray, Dennis William Grimes, Nikki Klix, Ian Knox, Anthony-Jon LeSage, Clancy McCartney, Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and Nicole Wiesner. Other additions to the 2012/13 slate include Sandra Delgado, Sandra Marquez, John Ortiz and Gary Perez in The Motherf**ker with the Hat, and Cheryl Lynn Bruce, Glenn Davis and Jacqueline Williams in Head of Passes. Edward Torres has also signed on to direct the Steppenwolf for Young Adults production of How Long Will I Cry?: Voices of Youth Violence (previously titled Oral Histories) with Artistic Consultant Kelli Simpkins.

AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Opens at The Keegan Theatre, 8/3

Closing out Keegan's 2011-12 season is Tracy Letts' Pulitizer Prize-winning and Tony Award-winning play, August: Osage County. Letts' jaw-dropping masterpiece opens on Friday, August 3 and runs through September 2, 2012, at the company's home on Church Street in Dupont Circle. Curtain is 7:30 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday evenings, with 3pm Sunday matinees.

Chris Cooper Joins AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY Film

According to IndieWire, Chris Cooper has been cast in the film adaptation of Tracy Letts' August: Osage County, alongside Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. Cooper also joins the recently cast Andrea Riseborough.

Paul Rudd-Led GRACE to Open at Cort Theatre on October 4

Producers Debbie Bisno, Fox Theatricals, Jed Bernstein and Paula Wagner announced today that the Broadway Premiere of Grace, the acclaimed American play written by Award-winning writer Craig Wright (Mistakes Were Made, Recent Tragic Events, "Six Feet Under") and directed by Dexter Bullard (Tracy Letts' BUG), will play The Cort Theatre (138 West 48th Street). The strictly limited engagement begins performances on Thursday, September 13th, with an official opening night set for Thursday, October 4, 2012.
