Rubicon Theatre Company has announced the cast and creative team for the World Premiere of THE BEST IS YET TO COME: THE MUSIC OF CY COLEMAN, which began previews July 9 at Rubicon's intimate 200-seat home at 1006 E. Main Street in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District. The show continues Wednesdays through Sundays through August 2, 2009.

Bristol Riverside Theatre will host its 4th Annual Jazz Weekend from July 31 through August 2. This year's Jazz Weekend features performances from Warren Oree & The Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, the Eric Mintel Quartet, and guitarists Jack Wilkins and Howard Alden.

Tony Bennett, the epitome of cool, brings his smooth vocals and interpretive artistry to the Orange County Performing Arts Center's Segerstom Hall on September 25 at 7:30 p.m. Bennett's fourth visit to the Center will feature all the great songs and that impeccable style that have earned him multiple Gold and Platinum albums, Grammy and Emmy awards, Billboard's Century Award and a Kennedy Center Honor. Frank Sinatra called him 'the best singer in the business.'

The SANFORD AND DOLORES ZIFF CLASSICAL MUSIC SERIES will present four diverse works by the highly regarded Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Pinchas Zukerman, on December 16; a solo recital of audience favorites by four-time Emmy® Award and 15-time Grammy® Award-winning violinist Itzhak Perlman on January 12; the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of the internationally recognized American conductor Leonard Slatkin, on February 14; and outstanding pianist Lang Lang accompanied by the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival Orchestra, on March 29, conducted by Christoph Eschenbach. The four-part series will take place entirely in one of the most acoustically superb concert halls in the world - the Center's John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.

The Rock Tenor makes its debut this summer beginning July 8, starring vocalist Rob Evan (Broadway performer and lead singer for the multi-platinum band The Trans-Siberian Orchestra), who conceived the show with director Vincent Marini (former Producing Artistic Director of New Jersey's Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center) officially opens July 15 and closes August 23. The Rock Tenor fuses rock and roll anthems, Broadway classics, opera favorites, country rhythms and classical melodies in a unique performance that showcases these familiar works in a whole new light. My Entertainer of the Year 2008, singer/actor Jeff Trachta is my idea of the ideal night club performer. He is a fantastic singer, impressionist and one helluva funny man. His one-man show Jeff Trachta Live! plays the Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm in the Cascade Room. An alumnus of The Bold and the Beautiful, having played Thorne Forrester for 8 years, and Broadway as Danny Zuko in Tommy Tune's acclaimed revival of Grease (mid 1990s), Jeff Trachta is at present happy to perform alone, except on occasion with his pet golden retriever who recently accompanied him to the Cascade Room. In our interview, Trachta talks about his idols and his newfound love of PS.
