The 38th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2016-2017 season were handed out in a star-studded ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Monday, June 26 at the Elgin Theatre of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, hosted by acclaimed actor and musician Raoul Bhaneja, a Maple Blues Award winner and Gemini, Dora and Canadian Comedy Award nominee.

The Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) today announced the date, creative team, host and venue for the 37th Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the awards show and party that celebrates extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts. Dora Awards Producer Jacoba Knaapen announced that the much-anticipated event will take place on Monday, June 27 and that it will, for the third time in a row, be held under the stars at Harbourfront Centre. Tickets go on sale May 31.

Chicago's Halcyon Theatre announces its 2016-17 season bursting with premieres and co-productions. The lineup includes: Maria Irene Fornes' Fefu and Her Friends (Aug. 18 - Oct. 8), Debbie Tucker Green's dirty butterfly (Nov. 3 - Dec. 10, a co-U.S. premiere with Edgewater-based The Blind Owl), and the Chicago premiere of Marisela Treviño Orta's The River Bride (May 11 - June 18, 2017). A fourth show is to be announced in co-production with Chicago-based A-Squared Theatre Workshop for the spring 2017 slot. Halcyon Theatre, located in residence at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3253 W. Wilson Avenue in the Albany Park neighborhood, strives to present new voices from inadequately represented communities and works to recast classic works in order to showcase contemporary relevance.

?Chicago's Halcyon Theatre announces casting for the World Premiere of Dreams of the Penny Gods by Callie Kimball. Directed by Jennifer Adams, Co-Founder of Halcyon Theatre, the company closes its 10th Anniversary season with this dark dramedy that captures the lies a family tells themselves. The cast of Dreams of the Penny Gods features Denise Hoeflich, Robert N. Isaac, Ted James, Shadana Patterson and Caity-Shea Violette. Dreams of the Penny Gods runs March 24 - May 1 at Halcyon Theatre, in residence at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3253 W. Wilson Avenue. The official opening night performance is Thursday, March 31, at 8pm; the running time is approx. 110 minutes with one intermission.

In association with its mission to present new voices from inadequately represented communities, Halcyon Theatre will host a one-night-only post-show discussion immediately following the 8p.m. performance of Estrella Cruz [the junkyard queen] Friday, February 19. The panel will address social issues facing young Latina women as reflected in Estrella Cruz, including young motherhood. The expert panel features Maureen Mena, Association of Latino Professionals for America board member; Tamika Lechee Morales, Halcyon Theatre company member (and Estrella Cruz cast member); and Yesenia Villaseñor, Assistant General Counsel at Exelon Corporation. Open to all theatre patrons.

Directed by Tony Adams, Halcyon's Artistic Director, the company continues its 10th Anniversary season with this contemporary satirical twist on the classic Greek myth of Persephone and her journey to the underworld. The cast of Estrella Cruz features Johnny Garcia, Robert N. Isaac, Noe Jara, Tamika Lechee Morales, Kelly Opalko, and Allyce Torres. Estrella Cruz [the junkyard queen] runs January 21 - February 27 at Halcyon Theatre, in residence at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3253 W. Wilson Avenue. Tony Adams, the veteran film and stage producer whose credits include Blake Edwards' Pink Panther hits, S.O.B. '10,' and the film and stage versions of Victor/Victoria died Saturday, October 22nd, of a stroke at Beth Israel Hospital in Manhattan. He was surrounded by family and friends. He was 52 years old.

The London Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will close at the Palladium on September 4th after a 3-year drive

Stage and television star Brian Conley will play 'Caractacus Potts' in the smash hit musical 'CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG' at the London Palladium for 14 weeks from 15 March. At the same time, hit recording artist Alvin Stardust will take over the role of 'The Childcatcher' for 14 weeks. Jo Gibb will play the role of 'Truly Scrumptious' from 15 March.
