Stories and Sounds of LAST CALL to Take Center Stage at IRT Theater, Starting 10/9

terraNOVA Collective and IRT Theater present the New York Premiere of LAST CALL, by Terri Girvin. Directed by Drama Desk Award nominee Michael Leeds (Broadway's SWINGING ON A STAR) with an integrated soundscape by Grammy nominated sound designer Phil Palazzolo (Broadway's HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH), previews begin October 9 at IRT Theater. Opening night is slated for Thursday, October 15.

Woodshed Collective, leaders of audience immersive, site specific performance and creators of Twelve Ophelias ('A deconstructed masterstroke' - New York Press) The Tenant ('A great theatrical tapestry of vintage grit...a triumph of simultaneity and atmosphere' - Village Voice) , and The Confidence Man ('A breathtaking stunt! 5 STARS!' - Adam Feldman, TimeOutNY), present Empire Travel Agency, a unique theatrical experience that allows four audience members at a time to participate in the performance, taking them on a surreal quest through lower Manhattan. Tickets are free and performances begin August 19th with trips running six nights a week through September 27th. The audience's immersive experience begins by booking their tickets on empiretravelagency.com, where they'll reserve a spot on the new trip the agency is offering - 'The Hidden City Excursion.' This exclusive experience will begin at a payphone in Lower Manhattan, at which point the audience will be whisked away into the night.

IRT and Ricochet Collective welcome Jody Flader (The Slug Bearers... at The Vineyard) to the cast of the World Premiere of GORDY CRASHES, by Sam Byron. Directed by Sherri Eden Barber, previews began June 5 at IRT Theater with opening night slated for tonight, June 12. Flader replaces Clea Alsip, who leaves to join the cast of Neil Labute's The Way We Get By with Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski.

Kurt Elling Celebrates New Album PASSION WORLD at Birdland This Week

Kurt Elling, the preeminent male vocalist in jazz, released Passion World - his fifth album from Concord Records - yesterday, June 9. For his most ambitious project yet, Elling casts his net far and wide around the globe, using songs rooted in Iceland (Bjork's 'Who Is It') to Ireland (U2's 'Where The Streets Have No Name'), France (Edith Piaf's 'La Vie En Rose') to Brazil (Dorival Caymmi's 'Voce Ja Foi a Bahia?') and beyond, to explore the passionate forces that shake our souls.
