Frances Black Projects presents for the honey, you gotta say when, an original commedia dell’arte conceived and directed by Christopher Bayes, that illuminates the current appetites and struggles of the present moment. This production comes to New York from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and plays June 1-10 at the 4th Street Theatre at New York Theatre Workshop.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has added an additional offering to the LookOut summer lineup in the new 1700 Theatre, 1700 N Halsted. Love Kills: A Concert Reading by writer/composer Kyle Jarrow is a new rock musical about the famous teen spree killer Charlie Starkweather starring Steppenwolf ensemble members Jeff Perry and Ora Jones with Patrick Rooney. Directed by Kent Paul with musical direction by Matt Hinkley, there will be five performances: Friday, July 1 at 8pm, Saturday July 2 and Sunday, July 3 at 2:30 and 8pm. The producers are Ellen Raphael, Kent Paul and Tommy Russell. Tickets ($25) are available now through Audience Services (1650 N Halsted) 312-335-1650 and steppenwolf.org.

This production, a contemporary take on commedia dell'arte - the classic Italian style of theatre with masked actors performing a blend of scripted and improvised comedic scenarios - plays January 15 - February 6 at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street, between Bowery and Lafayette).
